RE: Does anybody know where to buy?
What gives you the idea that the model is an RTR.
Could it be possible that the model may be the culmination of
years of work by a talented modeler?

RE: Does anybody know where to buy?
I could be wrong to assume its an RTR, I thought it was RTR because in another video posted by the owner there are three more boats exactly like his not to mention the same flags and same water monitors and the same crane features. Because I don’t speak or read an Asian language I have to base my opinion on visual facts.
Perhaps you know something that we don’t, if it is a kit built boat than that’s wonderful, if not then why don’t you be a pal and helps find this beautiful vessel so we can enjoy it. My only experience is with large scale RC aircraft and for the most part big scale aircraft RTR or ARF is a common place. Being that I am a commercial pilot and travel almost 90% of my time, it’s highly unlikely I will ever be able to build one of these beautiful boats. By the way I saw the build up of your Neri.....Very Impressive. You have skills that I will never have. Nicely done.

RE: Does anybody know where to buy?
The easiest way would be to e-mail the owner, and see if you get a response.
However, by the comments in the first link, he hasn't answered any of the queries as to the
origin of the kit. If it is an RTR, all the working features are still most likely to be modifications to the boat.
Might have a look around [link=http://www.copyship.com/BBS/English_ver/index.asp]Copyship[/link]
[edit] ahhh, looky here.... http://www.copyship.com/bbs/production_Page.asp?ID=478
And you had to have seen the plans on the other thread....[edit]
Ark Models is one of the builders of these types of RTR, and kits, but from what other people have
experienced, (some in Shanghai) the company does not have a good record.
Tian Jie has a little better reputation, but people seem to be finding the pieces a bit low in quality, or
parts missing.
RC scale models is one of the importers of the Tian Jie kits, and got off to a sketchy start by using other
peoples photos to sell his products. Including images of the Tito Neri I built.
RC scale models has a similar South American And Mexican tug that seems to be RTR...

It is still a bit Cavat Emptor on these models

RE: Does anybody know where to buy?
Saw the postings at Model Mayhem, and kept thinking I swear to god they had a Tai koo thread or some modeler in the UK was building one of these...
However, I think this is what I have been recalling
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content...llery.shtml?14
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content...llery.shtml?15
Scratch built by Phil Scales of the UK
So I did a search on TAI KOO, and rediscovered Scalespeed...
http://www.scalespeed.com/taikoo_en.htm
I say rediscovered, because back in 2002-3, I was looking at his RHS hydrofoil.
I asked about plans, and was told he only sold boats, so I asked the price for the Hydrofoil, and
never got a reply to any further queries.
Perhaps you will have better luck.

RE: Does anybody know where to buy?
here is the e-mail from scale-speed on the tai koo from you tube
Dear Mr. Mark,
Thanks for your appreciate for our model boats! Glad to answer your enquiry!
All of our models are built by handicraft. The FRP models supplied by us are fine scale R/C ready to run boats. Maybe you have noticed that either their aspect details or their sailing performance are obviously superior to other ready to run boats.
Our models could include the motors, the speed controller, the servo, the three channels FM R/C transmitter and receiver ( The agonistic type is used for airplane model aerobatics 3- channels FM type. ), even the rechargeable NiMH battery packs, and the instruction CD.
Further more, for make sure the sailing performance of our products, our ready to run boats are passed seriously operational check. So either their aspect details or their sailing performance are as same as the pictures and video clips on our web site.
The Tai Koo tugboat you mentioned is a popular type, also her building course is heavy and complicated.
There are two different driving systerms for you to choice.
One, the two directly driving propellers and propeller shafts.
Another, the two Z-drives.
The two different driving systerms decides how excellent the maneuverability of Tai Koo is. Also in the handcrafts building process, the difficulty degree of the two different driving systerms are totally different. As a result, the tug with the two Z-drives is more expensive than the tug with directly driving propellers and propeller shafts.
Would you please tell me which kind of driving systerm is expected to build on your Tai Koo?
We would be glad to estimate freight charge to your home, if you would tell us your address and postcode- this information is needed by DHL.
Best wishes,
Yours sincerely, Simon Tang

RE TAI KOO
I've just come across this thread again.
There is an MMI plan of Tai Koo tugboat - ref MAR2578.
http://www.traplet.com/ gives the launch point for the on line shop / catalogue.

The traplet plan is of an older WWII tug boat.
Plans for this one turned up on the internet and are reposted here...
