Those are the $40 proboats, I have a Trojan with 2 Grapner 12v 700s that I control with only one proboat, no water cooling, but it does sit on an aluminum plate, I can hold the esc after I run it hard, the 12v 700 must not pull many amps, I use 1-3/4" Dumas brass 3 blade props with a 2" pitch, With 1-1/2" Dumas props I only get about 7mph, with 12v. I get about 13mph out of the trojan and about 14-15 from the PT boat with the 1-3/4" props.
Tried the mcd 480 with no water cooling on the pt boat and it cut out.

Hansvonpensch,

Nice job on the PT boat!! It is cool that you are running motors on all 3 shafts![sm=shades_smile.gif]

Best of luck!!

-Rich.

Great job and nice installation on the hardware below deck. Can you tell me where you found those brass couplers that fit the larger shaft of the 700 motors?

I have a 5mm round file that I found at the flea market. It takes about 3-5 minutes of working the 3/16" (4.87mm) brass Dumas coupling to get the 5mm opening. One you break threw, remove the file at once, because any extra smoothing will only make the coupline loose.

but a smaller prop will make it faster. you get more revolutions. many things can affect which prop size you need such as altitude and use of the boat.

I ran 2 grapner 700s on 12v with 2, 1.5" dia., 3 blade 2" pitch Dumas brass props on my trojan, it did about 7mph , I brought it back to shore and swaped out the props for 1.75" dia 3 blade 2" pitch Dumas brass props and it did about 11mph, other people have had different results with simular tests. With viper 900, they are not that fast, but have a lot of tourqe, you could tirn 2" props. Those are low rpm motors, they must have a lot of turns to and thus have a lot of tourqe.
