Default Completion of the Krick "Lisa M" Motor Yacht

Hey Folks,

I am new to the hobby and have spent a great deal of time doing a lot of reading and "self educating". When I felt prepared, I decided upon the Krick "Lisa M" Motor Yacht for my first build because I liked it's generic motor yacht look. I had to order it from a company in the UK because I couldn't find a distributer in the US... shipping was almost as much as the kit... but it was worth it. After several months, I'm just about finished with it... During the build, I made a lot of mistakes & goof-ups, but I enjoyed every second of it and learned way more than I ever expected. Since this was my first attempt at kit, my confidence was low. Plus, I’m a grad student and lack sufficient tools and a permanent workspace. I made due with some basic tools I had and bought a dremel which was very helpful. My apartment patio made for a decent workspace once the weather warmed up. For fear that I might butcher this kit, I refrained from posting any pictures of my progress. But now that its completed and I am happy with how it turned out.. I have much more confidence in my abilities and am comfortable posting some images of this project.

The kit was well suited for an inexperienced, 1st time builder. The ABS pre-formed hull made things a lot easier. The only issue with this kit was the instruction manual. It was a packet of photocopied pages and many of the images were very unclear. The text of the manual was translated from German (since it’s a German company) and some of it didn’t translate well into English which made things confusing. Some parts were not translated at all and were still in German. I gave up on the manual half-way through the build (once the main sections were constructed) and did my own thing with the rest of the parts. The quality of the kit wasn’t superb.. but it wasn’t a very expensive kit. For the money, it’s a good boat for a beginner.

I installed the 400 size motor that was included in the kit along with a Pro Boat ESC. I’m using a hitec servo and receiver that came with the hitec laser 6 radio set I purchased. I installed the “super loud horn†from Mack products which is activated by a picoswitch radio controlled relay on CH5. I have some lights installed (sidelights & spotlight… and will eventually have bow lights too).. but they are not yet wired up. I still have some fine detailing to do and ideas for little improvements here and there. Overall, I enjoyed the kit a lot and am hooked on this hobby.

Thanks! I’d be happy to post some more photos. I'll try to get some pictures up of the "innards" by the end of this week. I'm still rearranging some items around in the hull in order to keep things neat and better protect some of the components from water.
