Rescue Boat
 

Hi Guys,

Im wanting to build a practical Rescue boat to rescue my Gas boat when its standed.... Which is quite alot!!!!
Anyway just woundering if you guys think anything on the market is suitable... Been looking at tug boats but i need to it go abit faster if its a long way out.
I also need a good size battery that will last a good day boating alot of torque and a speed controller that with go into reverse!!!

Anyone have any ideas????

Speed isn't really a priority with a rescue boat. Pushing too fast and you'll push the boat being rescued under. Power, long run times, inexpensive batteries, have a look at the Vac-u-Tow 2. You can build it as simple or detailed as you like.

If its just a rescue boat, long run times are not a high priority - it only needs to be switched on and running while the rescue is being performed.<div>The simplest form of rescue is to use the boat to tow a line out, circle the cripple to snag it with the line, and manually pull the lot back in.  </div><div>The kit mentioned previously is a good candidate, so is a Springer.</div><div>Doing a search for rescue boats should bring up lots of ideas - it is a subject that generates lots of queries and threads.</div>

Very occasionally - my club (B&amp;FMBC) sails at Fairhaven, Lytham St Annes, Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday evenings from the St Pauls Ave car park end. Mostly electric scale, but bits of everything except I/C, and we have recently gained a bunch of Laser racers. Visitors and guests always welcome. Might be a problem this week - the area has been taken over to the great inconvenience of locals to aid the idiot golf watchers, its UK Open this week. Grrrr....

Hi Jackal,

Tugboats are really the way to go when doing a rescue.

I recently bought a Dumas Brooklyn tug as a rescue boat from a fellow club member. The boatneeded a bunch of work so after a new motor,all new paint scheme and some custom detailing it was ready. I wasn't much of a tugboat guy but after getting it to run it ended up being my boat of choice for club runs.

In the last photo it isrescuing a fellow club members boat.

Also, the Atlantic Tug by Aquacraft is another popular choice as far as rescue boats go. Many hobbyists end up modifying them to suit their needs but as an RTR they have a proven track record for getting the job done. The middle tugboat (red &amp; white one) in the third picture is an example of alightly modified Atlantic Tug.

Cheap motor mount, cheap brushless motor/esc and appropriate battery.

Not only do you have steerable thrust, it will go fast to! The 25" Bling Rocket is a killer hull.

I built a recoveryboat for a surface group.

A.. V screen... in front of a powered 2" x 12" x 38" plank to be used in rough water retrieves. We removed the V & just pushed with the 12 " straight across, padded bow, in calmer water for the larger painted models.

I recommend the Hobbico/Aquacraft RTR tugboat . I have one and it is quite reliable. The motor,drive shaft/stuffing box that comes with the boat is ok. You need to change the esc to a pro boat brand,as it has a much better reverse. Also,I would change the trx/receiver to a 2.4 gig. I made a portable "pusher/rescue '' unit that attaches to the front by way of very strong magnetics. The harder you push on the front of the unit,the stronger it becomes. good luck.
