RC Lindberg's 1:32 PT-109: attaching the deck
 

Hi:

I'm in the process of converting the Lindberg's 1:32 PT-109 to RC. The hull already runs and runs fine.

Now, while most of the deck offers a nice access to the hull for replacing batteries and any other needed maintenance, the rear deck has a narrower access. I don't think that it will be easy to attach or detach the three rudders and linkages.

There is an idea floating over my head about cutting the rear section (the rest of the deck would be glued to the hull which adds to water tightness) and somehow being able to attach and detach it. But leaving visible screws is out of the question.

Does anyone have good ideas about this?

Attach one under each corner to hold the deck in place and matching magnets attached to the hull to hold the deck down

Magnets will work. But will they hold the deck in rough waters? Sometimes we take the boats to a lake and it often becomes rough.

Trust me they will work. Many of the nitro and petrol powered scale hydroplanes we run in Washington State have the cowlings held on with just magnets on the corners. I've seen some stay on that I never thought would do to the water conditions and crashes the boats had while racing at speeds of around 100KPH
