1/8 scale electric boat

hello my dad has a large scale chris craft model it has an electric motor from a weedeater in it that runs off of a rechargable exit light battery. I would like to know where i can get a better motor for it I would like to be able to bring it up to plane. any help would be great.

If you are serious about wanting it to go fast, check these guys out http://www.finedesignrc.com/default.htm

Brushless motors have a great power to weight ratio and are more efficient than brushed motors.

Is the battery 6 or 12 volt. If it is a 6 volt one, you can add another one if the speed control can handle the extra voltage. If you don't have the room you might want to try a Ni-Cd battery pack, more voltage depending on the number of cells. It will be lighter in weight allowing it to go faster but the trade off will be shorter run times.

Can you post a picture of the motor to give us a clue to what it is. How about a Johnson 970 series motor http://www.meci.com/product_info.php...s_id/650811582 There are a lot of people that use these and you can't beat the price.
