Default U-boats antennas

Those long wires that went from the sail to the bow and to the stern, where long-wave antennas? All the length or from the sail to the insulators?

Thanks

I think you'll find they were cables to stop mines from entangling.
SImilar cables went from the edges of dive planes to the hull.

Actually, these wires served double duty. While they helped get through nets, but they were also low frequency radio antennas, as well. If you look closely at any pictures that show the front of the tower, you'll see the wire that exits the hull which connects to the "jumping" wires. The antenna portion did not include that part which extended between the insulators and the tower.
