Should be one sweet kit for a conversion. I see David's already working his SD & fitting kit with Revell's blessing.

David was kind enough some photos today on his work. As mentioned earlier, Revell gave them their blessings for a conversion kit & even provided samples for prototyping. David's comments below:

I'm now in a made scramble to get the 1/72 Revell of Germany Type-9 fittings kit and SD ready for sale. The very, very low slung shafts require a specialized motor-bulkhead -- I'm working on that master right now.

This kit seems to be engineered for r/c -- the strut bearings, stern tubes and such can be used as-is. We secured written permission from Revell of Germany to use kit parts as masters, so that will save many hours of master making. A wonderful kit!

I'll be starting a WIP on this puppy as soon as I have a fittings kit in hand. A few weeks from now
You can follow his work over at SD forum.

I'm considering an RC conversion of this kit.

I've seen the Sub Driver kits for the type IIV, Skipjack, etc., does the above mean that he's working on a commercial release of a kit for the new IX? I was looking through the thread and it had torpedo tubes, etc and it's an incredible build thread.
