Revell 1/72 Gato Class Submarine.
Having been unable to try out my Italer Schnellboot because the local recreation authorities decided to drain the local pond for the first time in 25yrs.
I have moved on to my next project as per the title.
Building only as a R/C dynamic diver, as using 2.4 Ghz radio gear which doesn't penetrate below the surface.
Main hull has been cut open to provide access to the interior.
Using the kit moulded locating pins & bosses, I cut the bosses in to a 'C' section so that I would get a slide/locate/click attachment of the forward deck area.
I strengthened the hull side plates as they would be regularly handled (opening/closing) for access.
More to follow.

Hello Ojays,
Found your Gato Build Log...
I'll be watching.
It'll be a while before I start my Gato build.
Haven't even broken the seal on the box yet...
Have quite a few builds ahead of it, RC Tugboats, RC Battleships and RC PT Boats.
Hopfully by the time I get to the Gato I will have amassed the Knowledge and Skill to Build the Beast.
Best Wishes,
-gus

Hi 1sgt,
I have a Tamiya 1/350 Prince of Whales, a Trumpeter 1/200 Bismarck and plan to pick up a Trumpeter 1/200 Rodney.
Also have a (Standoff Scale) in 1/144 of a Bogue Class Escort Carrier, laser cut Frames, Decks and Keel, it's a Garage Kit...
It will be a while before I start on these kits as I'm still learning how to build and finish before I start in on the more Complex Builds.
Regards,
-gus

Just managed to get back to this build, as life just got in the way for the past year.
Realising that when fully assembled the hull would not fit inside my car, I have broken the hull down into 3 sections.
Bow/centre/ stern, to be joined using very strong magnets and aligning tubes.
Also made some inroads with the WTC, drilled out the end cap and inserted the prop shaft module.

Unfortunately nothing done for a while, life has just got in the way.
A mixture of my wife and I moving into a care home, and 5 deaths in the family in the last 12months, meant having to prioritise.
Hope to get back to it in the new year.
New Year, New Start!
Thanks for asking.

Retrieved from the shelf of doom, now a matter of getting her finished as I need the room.
A few alterations to the WTC, so should be able to get the mechanicals out of the way and on to
hull fittings and painting.
