hey guys,
Can anyone tell me if a 1/144 scale surcouf RC sub would be big enough to take standard
equipment like torpidoes and servos.
thanks,

RE: surcouf RC subs 1/144 scale
The surcouf was 361' long making the model 30.5" at 1/144 scale.
It most certianly can be done in RC. I am considering making this model for use as a combat model. Its high mounted 8" guns make it an awesome combat model capable of surfacing, firing and diving with all its penetrable surface below the waterline.
Did you know where a kit for this boat is available in 1/144 scale?

RE: surcouf RC subs 1/144 scale
hey guys,
I didn't have much luck either.
If you dont get the plans, find the real size of the boat and
devide it by 144 I think you get the scale.
As for where you get the plans you could find pictures of it
from all different angles and try making a plan yourself or
you could buy the plan from a site. I know one that has plans for ANY
WWII ship and more but the address is long and I'm at the library and
don't have the piece of paper I wrote it on. I'll get it when I'm at home
and post it to you.

RE: surcouf RC subs 1/144 scale
I have the plans available in 1/144 scale. I am just trying to decide if I should do the Surcouf or the IJN-400. The IJN is a bit bigger but I like the Surcoufs twin 8" guns. Not something you see on submarines very often.

Hi tim,
i do have the original plans of the surcourf. It would be better to build her in 1/72 scale more space for the equickment.

Hi guys,
Take a look at this:

Be sure to click on the videos.
Not sure if it's 1/144 but it sure is a great looking sub.

RE: surcouf RC subs 1/144 scale
I agree that as a model, It would be better a bit larger. But I would like to use this in warship combat, so the scale must be 1/144.

RE: surcouf RC subs 1/144 scale
Either 1/72 oer 1/144 would be an interesting scale for this model. I'd plunk down the $$ for a decent 1/72 kit so it would fit in with my other conversions I'm building.
