Doyusha U-boat RC converted
This Doyusha U-boat is quite suitable for RC conversion. Due to the advance of micro RC receiver and servo, the space problem is solved and many of my friends have already converted this submarine to a rc one and have great fun.

RE: Doyusha U-boat RC converted
Nice,
I have been thinking of getting into subs myself.
I can hardly believe you actually got it all in there. Can you post a photo of what it looks like inside?
Thanks!

Must have more information.
It appears you have kept true to the kit's simple motorization instructions in that the U-Boat's center section is removable by screws (and sealed with a rubber gasket) while the bow and stern sections are cemented to the upper gray hull parts. Did you seal your motor with cement in the stern section as the kits instructions suggest? It appears you have retained what seems to be free-flooding areas both in the bow area with holes on either side and the slot in the top of the stern section. These sections also have a round hole in the bottom that is plugged during operation to the let the water out afterwards. I wonder why the manufacturer had these sections free-flood and also provided weights, if need be, to make sure the sub is heavy enough to submerge?
If I were to build one, I would plug the holes permanently with plastic sheet and sand them over to make the sub look more realistic.
I would like to see your rudder control device as the stern section is very narrow in that area, almost too narrow for a conventional rudder arm.
It is doubtful that you (hsc) will see this inquiry since this is a dead thread and you have not logged in since Oct '07 but this is an interesting build and it would be great to learn more.
Thanks.
