torp firing and missile launching submarine vids pls!
Can anyone with a sub that can fire torpedos or missiles post vids of them? I've always wondered what its like to see them fire.

Direct TV Just ran a 1 hour show with some neat clips of the Polaris class of missiles coming out of the water and igniting. Neat stuff! Had interior views of the torpedos also.
I usually call the channel running the show and ask about buying the show. Most are for sale pretty cheap.

Here you go,
The only one I could find (my favourite):
http://www.geocities.jp/uboat_kit/ub...edo_1min_l.mpg
Right click and "Save Target As" if you want to download it.

Subcapt'n,
If you want to see how these work, you'll want to sign up over at SP & subscribe to the Caswell Models' Torpedo thread [link=http://www.subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=3344&hilit=torpedos]Got Torpedos?[/link] They plan to have a working torpedo system for 1/72 & larger subs sometime this summer & will be posting video of their work once its getting closer to launch.

WWWOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great to see the sub gaining buoyancy after firing the torp, then gaining ballast to level again, as in the real thing!!!!!

What model is that one I have similar ones 1 japanesse I-boat and 2 U-109s also have an Ohio class that fires 4 missiles.
PS Japanese I-boat carries 1 sea plane that comes out of the hanger and unfolds the wings and tail asembly then then is lanched by the catapult. takes two people 1 to drive the sub and 1 to fly the plane

I might belive that if the sub was surface-only. It would be insanley hard to waterproof a door on the submarine and make the plane more than a normal plane for waterproofing the exterior and making it possible to land on water. As for launching the plane off a catapult, how would you fit that entire assembley onto a probably 1/72 scale or bigger? PREPOSTEROUS! And the Ohio firing 4 missiles, the biggest missile sub I have ever seen fired 2 missiles.

Me and my friends buitl a 31 foot Graft Zepplin it took 10 of use 6 mounts.
but it holds Complement of 15
5 × Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighters, 2 airsoft guns
5 × Junkers Ju 87 dive bombers,2 airsoft guns+bomb drop capability
5 × Fieseler Fi 167 torpedo bombers, 1 airsoft gun and one electric torpedo(torpedo is sketchy as hell)
all are RC airplanes and the carrier can be fully RC or we stick 2 people in it
it was actually prety cheap we found an old 31 foot sail boat in kiel and cut off the top then added the flight deck and superstucture
we can hold all 15 planes in the hangar and each is pulled out on to the elevator a by a computurized robot (took 3 mounts of programning) after it on deck we point her into the wind and throw the throttle and shes gone. for landing we use a TV camera with a cross hair line up the plane with the cross hair and land the plane on the deck with the arresting wires. we used a 4 strock 90horse power motor to dive the two skrews.
will post pictures

I have to say, some of these recent posts have been a great way to start your day with a laugh!
Getting back to the real world, here's what one very talented member of Australia's TF72 can do when it comes to sub launched missiles [link=http://wavelit.com/media/765/RC_Sub_fires_Rocket/]688I Tomahawk launch[/link] . USS Greenville 688I has both a working DSRV and fires Tomahawk (propel) powered missiles.
You can find more photos of the sub as well as others here [link=http://www.subpirates.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=4233]TF72 Manly Dam Run[/link]

That is skill of a very experienced TF72 modeler. The sub belongs to a doctor, while the depth charges & live torpedos are from one of the members also happens to be an ordnance expert. He ended up sinking his own destroyer with one of the torps, do I wouldn't recommend trying this at home.
