Default WTC Materials

I just received my www.harvel.com free sample of the 4.5" O.D. clear pvc schedule 80 pipe. The wall thickness is 3/8" thick but the inside diameter is too irregular to consider having the o-ring plug do anprecision job of sealing. It is also very heavy and not as optically clear as hoped to be.I use thousands of feet of 2" schedule 80pvc pipe in my business but that pipe is much easier to extrude at a closer tolerance because the soft pipe exiting the extruder diescools off much faster and keeps it's round shape. The only pipe that can be obtained other than polycarb,at great cost,is cast acrylic for precision wall thickness.
I have decided to use 4" O.D. x3.75" I.D.polycabonate in place of the knuckle dragging pvc pipe. This means that the inside threaded pipe and screw plugdesignare just a pipe dream and not possible with the 1/8" wall thickness of the polycarb pipe.I will still machine the aluminum plugs but will not havethreads. The plugs will have 3 o-ring grooveson the wall surface and1 o-ring under the plug shoulder to seat up against the end edge of the pipe.Professionalplastics.com has the 4" polycarb for $12.95 @ft. in 8' minum lengths. This is the lowest price out there that I have found.

That pipe is used in FULL SIZED submarines.

Way to heavy for our subs. Drugstore pill bottles work very well with tight sealing cap being standard. Ask your druggest for the longest ones. I used 3 in my Gato.

Rear motors & rudder.......center for batteries/esc/rec............bow future ? I just connect every thing with heavy duty 3 wire servo cable & seal all holes with Silicone Rubber.
Good to 30 feet. Accidently !!!!!!!! [&o]

Been a while since I handled threaded plastic pipe & end caps. They would make a fair sized airtight chamber to 100' down. You could make a closed cell flat washer for both ends to be opened when needed. Or just 1 end with a slide in & out plywood tray.........My center compartment has a tray for neatness reasons only.

I drilled and tapped a bolt thru the chamber. The threads are sealed. The antenna wire is just 2" long in the pill jar with a tiny insulated clip on it. On the out side is the rest of the antenna lugged to the bolt threads. Allows for a long straight antenna.
