Default Seaview Concept II

A while back I talked to a gentlmen about the seaview submarine.I knew the submarine very well,as I have built the sub before. He had the moebius thirty nine inch seaview. It is a very nice model with lots of detail. He wanted a change to the nose and sail as they were not to scale like the movie model. After we talked a while,I told him that I could design a new concept futher in the future if he wanted that. He then got excited and told me to go for it! I wanted to use the new SSN 21 Seawolf design as a starting point.I then went beyond that. The old Seaview design had a even circle body design. The design was really taken from the old 571 Nautilus sub made in the 50s.The main body, top deck, and twin screw design was a starting point for the 60s seaview.Even the sail on the nautilus was sloped to the front to make the sail more streamline. When it was all done a very beautifull sub was made.Ayway this is why. I wanted to made this new design more stealth. The new hull is a oval design instead of the even circle.A new design top deck was made, with a more streamline shark type sail. The rear has one large jet pump system. I wanted to put on one rear rudder for less drag ,thru the water. But my friend wanted the twin rear fins for a more even look.So new rear design tail fins were made. The subs nose does not have the nose bulge, like on the old seaview. This design has a even transion from bow to stearn.I have a long ways to go on the completed design, but I thought some of the seaview fans might enjoy seeing this concept for the fun of it.I still love the orginal seaview design,as there will be only one seaview! I thought it would be fun to try some different.untell later!

Thanks, nuke mechanic, glad you like the boat. I got a little more done on the sail, over the weekend. I glued one sail hatch on the left side of the sail tonight.A N scale figure is standing next to it for scale.I want to also enlarge the flying bridge. I just put two rough weather windrows on the front of the sail for now. I thought about putting four windrows but that might be to many? anyway I want to detail more on the sail as time allows. Right now running the snowblower has been taking up most of my time.

You know if you flipped the sail around it would look a bit like the borei class sail keep it going. What are your plans for this boat?

Hi Guys, When I started this project a few months back,I had no idea were I was going with it.I just let my ideas flow with different designs.I knew I wanted a shark look to the boat.like the sail that looks some what like a sharks dorsal.I think your right about turing around the sail nuke mechanic,it would look like a another subs sail,I just want to see if I can make a sleek science fiction sub, more modern than the seaview. If this is possible I guess we will all find out? Some will like it ,and some won,t.But its just a fun project. My plans are to make molds, to make a rc model for myself.I guess if someone likes the boat and is interested in a kit they can always let me know. The top hull is made to separate along the full length of the fins.I would think David mermans diving system would work good,as the sub is around five inches wide and forty six inches long. I got a little more work done on the sail today, hope to post pictures in a few days.untell next time.

how about a better shot of the stern. I am curious if you have enough clearance for the PJ to draw a suction?

Ill take a picture of the pump jet system tomorrow, nuke mechanic.I don,t have it completly done as yet.I may have to install some rear water intakes or gills for more water flow.Right now it is designed for a pretty good water intake as it is.but a test tank would tell a lot.I plan on installing a seven bladed brass prop that I make. One thing kind of neat you will be able to see the seven bladed prop turn in the pump jet housing as the sub runs past.I,ll take pictures tomorrow.

Well I finally got a few pictures taken of the sub.It has been one of those days, one step ahead and two back.Anyway I addad more detail to the sail.Diesel exaust vents, fair water bottom drain vents.and the sail now sports four front sail windrows, like the Skipjack sub.Two shots of the rear stearn that I designed. One shot of the stearn with the prop design that I want to use,and one with out. I want to add more detail as time permits.Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Wow that is a gorgeous looking future Seaview. If they ever do a new movie I hope they make the seaview look like this one. That is one super sleek mean looking sub. I would love to have 2 seaviews the original and one like this one. Great concept for a future Seaview.

yea.nuke mechanic this monster is loaded for hunting bear!(ha) Well I toke a few more pictures of the sub with different windrow arrangements.I just used black elactric tape to give an idea of the windrows. There not perfect but gives an idea of the looks.Again the pictures are not the best.I have a long ways to go on the boat, but its slowley getting done.I,ll figure out the scale later, and post that. I wish I could take pictures outside as they would be better.

IMHO The window arrangement in the first 3 pics fits the boat perfectly! Never been a fan of the 8 window version

I dont know the scale of the sail gives me the impression this thing is a beast! Look at the size of the door on the sail and that will give you an idea of the scale. I think the single windows arent enough for a boat of this size.

Well . I like both versions. Both would work on this sub. The Sails fins though don't seem right to me. They don't flow with the lines of the hull and seem mismatched against the sails sharklike lines. Maybe a sweeping curve on the sail fins. Looks great so far!!!

Glad you guys like the sub so far! I agree with snow tank about the sail diving planes they have to be sweeped back more to fit the sail design. They are easy to remove so this won,t be a job at all. I really appreciate your guys opinions on the sub,as this helps me out to a better design! untell later.
