Default Using Magnetic Switches

I would like to use a magnetic switch(s) to control the on/off for my Revell Gato. The main problem is most ESC manufacturers strongly recommend disconnecting the battery when not in use. This would then require a high current switch, water proofed and in some easily accessible area. Perhaps within the sail. Has anyone addressed the problem and maybe have some suggestions.

Thanks,

Iran Ausley

Default RE: Using Magnetic Switches

An external shorting link or external battery is surely the simplest,no?

For an enclosed battery,mfr02 shows arelay with diode http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=9659965
It is in the RCBoats-general thread need help wiring a (torpedo) motor control relay
You could add an indicator LED and add a switch-off reed somewhere.

I associate a relay with wild west themed movies, complete with steam railway and telegraph.
I have a circuit diagram which is more up to date but unfortunately contains a photovoltaic relay. That is a bit of a budget buster.

Alexander Engle in Germany has the switches one for the radio and the other for the power. Dan

Default RE: Using Magnetic Switches

thanks for the heads up on the Engel magnetic switches. I am uploading my circuit for a reed switch system to allow interday on/off capability without opening up the sub. Of course, after a day's run, everything will be opened to allow thorough drying including the WTC. It is a latching system and just requires a magnet at the appropriate switch to turn on/off.
