Panzer III on Easternfront 42'-43'
This is my panzer III with winterketten. It is one that might have been seen on the easternfront in the winter. Here are the pictures enjoy!
Future plans for this Panzer include fan grills, headlight covers, maybe some minor weathering, and possibly some mud to the road wheels etc.
Thanks also to all of the people on this forum who helped me.

I got the tracks from rccommand but that was about a month ago and I think it was his last pair at that time. They are asiatam and they are great.

Asiatam really surprised me with those tracks. They only make the left side track. Now this is perfectly acceptable but it just bugs me. Impact as much as i am disappointed with them at least make a left and right track. they are in my opinion a little more detailed. the Asiatam tracks are a little too smooth for my taste. It is a beautiful track, don't get me wrong but a little too polished.

Oh, your tank came out absolutely wonderful. Very nice shading and paint detail. I'm not a great painter and am not trying to be but i love too see the guys that can really get it done.

Tankmaster, very nice work on your PZ 3.Your detailing skills for a first time tanker leads me to believe you have an intrinsic art background.Nicely done.

I want to put fan grills on my tank and I am trying to make them instead of buying them...but how do you guys cutout the place where the fan grills need to be placed...or do you leave it like it is and just place the grills over the area?...thanks

I first painted it the same as my tank (desert tan), then brushed on some water-based black acrylic into the grills (it's okay if some black covers the edges). I lightly wiped off the black paint from the top of the grills with a paper towel after about 7-10 seconds and let dry. Then Iused a brush to "dab"in some water-based nutmeg paint (for dirt)in a few places in the grills and lightly wiped off the excess in 7-10 seconds. I repeated this squence in several layers. For your winter white-wash I would recommend mixing a slightly thinned mix of white paint with a couple of drops of light tan to wipe on as a final coat using a paper towel or clean cotton shop rag in order to blend the final oily/dirty/white-washed grills into your winter camo scheme. The technique is actually quite simple and using water-based acrylics will make it easy to clean up your brushes and any mistakes.

Nice job, I like the gear rack. You will love those winterketten, they are nice tracks.

I tried using screen like you did and sheet aluminum but the problem is that i don't have the tools to properly cut the aluminum...and I couldn't get it to look right.

Metal cutting at that scale is tricky. On the Jagd the window screen worked well cause it was not solid underneath and it had more of a frame already. My pzk III has only the stickers cause that is a fix I haven't tackled yet. If you could get strips of brass about 2mm wide you could cut them and build a frame. Perhaps your local hobby store has brass stock.

Boy, looking at Hondo Bob's griles makes purchasing a "bolt on" seem nice. His look great.

Unfortunatly my local hobby store doesn't and by the time I ordered some and tried to buy the tools to cut it properly it will probably be cheaper just to buy the grills
