Default RC conversion: 1/25 T34/85 (2)

(continued from [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10044494/tm.htm[/link])

The gearboxes and motors are the same type I used to convert my1/25 Tiger I to RC. But due to room restrictions in the T34 hull, I couldn't engage the sprockets directly from the gearboxes, instead, I had to add an external gear.

The sprockets have two ball bearings inside.

More to come.

Nice job Robert. Lots of work but it's paying off. Smart idea adding the additional external gear and the sprocket adaptation seems to work great. From the other videos, looks as if you are really into 1;25 scale. Saves a lot of space on the dispay shelves. Did you get the jumping track on the Jagtpanther fixed?

What do you mean by the jumping track?

you had a incomplete Jagdpanther "testing on grass"...on a right turn, the left track was jumping ...maybe too loose.

Oh yes. The problem is that the transmission on that model is made of plastic (the external gears that came with the kit). To overcome the problem of jumping tracks in a sharp turn (i.e. locking one of the tracks) I'd have to apply more tension to the tracks, that will sooner or later break any of those gears. Not to mention that the material of the links is not as hard as in the Tiger, I've already broken two (I have spares, but I decided to repair them) once when climbing a steep slope.

So when running on grass I try not to turn sharply with the Jagd. The Tiger is another story.

Regards
Robert
