Panzer III upgrade antenna expierement
So I decided to do an expierement with the antenna on my pzIII. I purchased an upgrade antenna and installed it on the side of my panzer like the real ones had. I then first ran my panzer with only the stock internal antenna wire with no extra length.(this wire was run as far back into my tank as I could get it. The rough distance was 90 ft. I then attached the wire to the antenna(the only modification I made to the wire was to cut off the little metal ring). I then put the antenna in the up position. The distance was roughly 140 ft. I then placed the antenna in the down position and the distance was roughly 60ft. So the bottom line is it has the longest range with the antenna up and the wire attach but this is not ideal for battles.
not antenna just wire=90ft
antenna in up position=140ft
antenna in down position=60ft
stock HL external antenna= 90-100ft.
I did not try it with an internal antenna like many people make so I don't know how these compare. I also did not try it with the stock hl external antenna but if I remember correctly it was about 100ft.

RE: Panzer III upgrade antenna expierement
You know i have had the proper antenna for my PzIII for about a year now and still haven't put it on. Poor little Panzer. i gotta start doing something with it. I like it so much in stock trim i just dont want to mess with it. Because it is by far my best Airsoft tank. I think it could punch a whole in the side of my Big dollar Tamiya Panther g. LOL

Thats the way I have left my KV-1 in stock mainly for the same reason...its arisoft gun is stronger than my pzIII...but now that I have gotten proficient with weathering and painting I am thinking that I might want to make it look better but I dont know...

Try setting your antenna at about 45 deg. and see what kind of range you get. If you do rotate the turret and hit the antenna it will lay down better but may still recivefarther than all the way down in the rack on the fender.

90 feet for a Heng Long tank is NOT BAD. Considering the radio gear that is used i these tanks it really is pretty good. Anything past 30 or 40 feet I can't see any way, LOL.

90 ft is enough distance to have a battle. I stay within 40 ft of my tank 99% of the time.

No extra wire all I did was cut the metal ring off and strip the wire so I could wrap it around the bolt part on the inside of my tank of upgraded antenna that I installed on my panzer

RE: Panzer III upgrade antenna expierement
THanks for posting this. I havea Pz3 coming soon and the antenna will be replaced by an internal or the side mount kit . I am very seldom farther than 50 feet or so from my tanks. Great to know the distances. I would like to build one internal antenna. Just to try it out..
Be well,
David
