Default I took my Leopard 2A6 up into the high country today.

I went south into the mountains again to see if the back roads were open. Still closed. Most of the snow is gone, but no plow has cleared the route. Perfect for tanking!
It was a wonderful day, sunny and warm with not much wind. The snow was too soft to drive on, either my truck or the Leo, so I kept to exposed ground. I parked a ways off the highway and then set out with the Leo. The run off from the snow melt had a million small streams going so I had to pick my way carefully and ford only where it was shallow enough for the Leo. The Leo made it as far as the ghost town of Red Mountain, seized it, and held it without any resistance for two hours, then handed it back to the inhabitants. Some short patrols of The Gorge and Ouray, then the order was Return to Quarters. It was a fun day of tank driving. She climbed rock, forded streams and went through mud and snow.
The altitude reached of over 11,000 ft above sea level did not seem to have any effect on the Leo… hmmm, must be the turbo in those twin diesels, anyway she sounded great with the volume up.
I took some pictures of my patrol of Red Mountain, the Uncompahgre Gorge, and the City of Ouray. All in all it was a very nice day, a couple short hikes with a RC Tank.

Your photos of the fun you are having with your tanks in that majestic scenery is ripping my heart out by the roots. Please show a photo or two of your tanks running around in a Walmart parking lot........that would make me feel better about what I have available for "scenic backdrops". The Chamber of Commerce should subsidize your hobby.

Wal-Mart is a longer drive. Here is where it sits most of the time...

This is made from shots I took today... set to music.

Thanks. It's just pictures of the local area.

The snow pack is going fast, though it should snow tonight, so I hope to get the Leo up on the ridge tops and shoot some move footage of tanks on the thundra soon. I think the rolling terrian up there with the alpine plants will make a very cool scale scene. Set up right, I can film both the Leo and the Panther to look real. It's the top of the world, I can see into Utah from up there.

I have thought of Rex's idea of pix of a tank in front of Wal-mart... we have a Target in Montrose now too... hmmm, sort of a post WW3 scene with tanks protecting the important infastructrures in town like Wal-Mart and Target. Hmmm...

Here is a few more that I liked better after cropping.

Is that a real rotating beacon on there?

It's the stock Tamiya part, it flashes but does not rotate.

Here is one that "rotates".
