Default A gutted Hetzer

Heres a couple of shots of what I assume is a gutted Hetzer lying in a military courtyard in Warsaw. With the ubiquitous T34.

Looks like it took a hit and blew the onbaord ammo.

Wow I always assumed the armor was thicker than that

The Hetzer relied on its sloped armour, but it wasn't all that thick (60mm at best I recall) and certainly not effective against a heavy shell from the likes of an SU-152...

BTW, that 'ubiquitous T34' is a rare M1942 (or M1941 - depending on who's litriture you read) - either way its a rare treasure!

Whats the difference between this M1942 version and the common or garden variety?

Ive stopped looking at them as there are T-34s in every village east of Berllin pretty much. Annd a feww German ones here and there usually in odd dioramas with victorius Soviet armour.

Most of the surviving ones are the M1944 with the 85mm gun.
