M1A2 SEP w/ TUSK
Thought it was time to get deeper into my ongoing Abrams project. I have been working on a commission project to refurb and detail a 1/16 scale Hobby Engine kit with my own scratchbuilt details and a few exotic parts from around the world. I am currently mid project so I will try to catch up with some stuff I worked on today. I am detailing the turret and in particular, the gun tube. I have added brass and aluminum to make the correct shape out of the Tamiya L/55 barrel and added a bustle rack and other tid bits. More to follow on my club build page below.

Nice work.
I nearly spit my coffee out when I read you had a 'Donor' Leopard 2. I am seriously under payed or in the wrong profession
How is the gear box?

The HE tanks, are not fully appreciated. When I was working on my HE Leo 2, I was very impressed with the molding and detail. The running chassis needs a lot of work, but once this is done, they turn out pretty good. I threw an EL Mod in mine and it sounds and runs really good.
For someone who wants an Abrams or an inexpensive Leo, these are an option.
Thanks for sharing I know you will get the most out of the tank, and really showcase what is possible with this brand.
Cheers
EDIT
I just followed the link. Scratch my comment about inexpensive. A donor Leopard!!!!!. Great project, and I guess the HE superstucture is the least expensive part going into this tank.

All the parts from the Leopard 2A6 will be replaced by the client as he intends to build one himself later in the year. Most of the innards from another Leopard were already in the tank when we got it last summer. Today I am working on the stowage rack and air cleaner.
Until kickoff of course!!!!!

Interesting effort, superior frugality and well displayed modeling skills, as usual.
You pesky desert dwelling guys have finally figured out how to beat the high cost of all those new Tamiya rc tank kits.
Well done.

Glacial pace resumes on M1A2.........
Made the latest feature, CS/AMM a.k.a counter sniper/ anti material mount. In short I scratchbuilt the mount for a barrel mounted .50 cal. Super secret addition is the Tamiya emitter built into the searchlight. Client wanted the flash in the gun tube.

RE: M1A2 SEP w/ TUSK
Ed,
I haven't had a whole lot of time lately ... But I wanted to comment. The M1A2 SEPturned out great!!!!!
Question:
All I have around here are Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Tru-Value, and another Tru-Value hardware. No one around heresells brass rod or tubing.
Since Iam replicating your work ...IE: I have some Leopard 2A6 parts. I need to replicate some of your work.
I am replacing the bustle rack, but approaching it slightly different than you. Can you give me the size of rod you used? I need to order some online.
I am also installing the Leopard main gun tube, so Ineed the sizes of the brass tubing you used for that as well as I need to order that online as well.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
War and Peace,
GoDOWaR
