Default Sturmi build

I'm attempting to convert a HL Stug into a Finnish Sturmi.
I purchased a Stug along with a Asiatam metal hull and3:1 gear boxesfrom Phil.
I plan on instaling anElMod system when completed.

I've modified the gun shield to match the Finnish version, they replaced the German MG with the Russian DT MG and modified the shield and mount.

I also moved the spare road wheels from the back deck to the sides of the superstructure.

Buckeye,

Although the roadwheel bracket is well done and looks great, I would have loved to see the brackets for the logs on the hull sides!

I am looking forward to your execution of the driver's vision block shield and the uparmored hull between the return rollers.

Keep the pics coming!

Regards,

J

I'm doing mine with the initial modifications carried into their first engagements. The logs were among several modification done after the Soviet mass offensive on the Karelian isthmus.  The specific one I'm doing is Ps. 531-19 (Marjatta), it was the first Finnish Stug to engage and destroy Soviet armor (4 T-34's on 6/15/44).

The extra armor plates on the lower hull and welded drivers visor were even later additions.
These were not added until the fighting was nearly complete (@Aug '44), so I did not plan on doing them.

The main problem Jim, is that work cuts into our hobby time way too much.....[&o]

Will it be ready for Danville? Will it be IR? Will you let me play with it? Remember....it's nice to share.

It sill be nice to have another Stug there. Mine is getting lonely.

PS the Stug is very easy to hide on the battlefield due to the low profile. BIG PLUS....any KO'd enemy tank can provide your cover.

The plan was to make it IR and have it ready for Danville.
I don't think I'll have it ready in time and my ElMod is backorderd.......no electronics right now.
It will be a IR battle tank when completed, and yes you can play with it!
I also have a Stug D, came in the mail todayno electronics.
I'm considering Tamiya electronics or maybe the new SLU for that one....

I am watchign this with a lot of interest brother. I really like the work that's done so far. Whatever electronics you go with, I am sure it will be a killer on the field. Bob finally has another Stug to battle with!!!

Nicely done!
Did you hand paint the name and serial number?
If you don't mind me asking what brand and color paints did you use for the camo?

Jim, looks like your Sturmi build is coming along nicely.I settled for a DBC/TBU battle system from Phil as there ain`t a lot of room in my Stug to install
anything much bigger, especially when you take into account that mounting anything on top of the battery box interferes with the gun elevation.I haven`t
changed my stock gearsets to 3:1 yet, as that will be determined once we try it out on the NEAD battlefield.Keep up the good work and have a good time at the Danville Extravaganza.

Your fellow Nead member,
Charlie

Nice looking Stug Charlie!
I should have a little more room inside, using the Asiatam lower hull for mine.
Joe warned me it's still a little tight inthe Stug, even with the Asiatam hull.

Now that Danville is over time to get back to work.
I completed the drivers armored visor, filled some unecessary holes and did some of the welds.
