Depends on what you are running, but most of the guys se the 2.4 radios now. They can be had cheap enough and reliability is very good. I have been using the Aerosport 5 for some of my tanks, some other guys prefer the higher end Futaba radios. Either is a fine choice.

I'm a dyed in the wool Futaba guy. The Skysport T4YF is inexpensive without being cheap, reliable, long lasting and easy to modify for RC tanking. What kind of tank do you have? A four channel will take care of most any RC tank but 5 or 6 may be needed for certain others. There are some ultra cheap units out there but I have radios that are 10+ years old and going strong. I doubt these cheapones will pass the test of time. Futaba, JR/Hittec & Spectrum are the big boys.

Radios are a personal choice. Absolutely get something 2.4ghz. After that, it's preference and features. We exclusively run Spektrums and like them very much. Whatever you choose, pick one brand and stick with it. It's easier that way.

Modified one of the 6-channel ones for a tracked RC project I made a while back to remove the airplane throttle stick so it self centers.
Works great

I wish to thank everyone for their advice regarding my topic. I did not expect to have received all the helpful information in such a short time, I'm impressed. Thanks again.
