New Ford V8 Stake Truck 1/16 from Highway 61

ORIGINAL: Panzerpaul
Gentlemen: The pixtures below show what you can do with any of the 5 trucks offered by Highway 61 in 1/16th scale. And I am throwing in a few shots of 1/16th jeeps that have been modified from 1/16th Danbury Mint models. FRAG uses all these for static show in our battlefeld. Panzerpaul

Those vehicles really look good........I especially like the Jeeps. I am a fan of diecast models for battlefield display. Over the years I collected 8 Jeeps which I planned to modify. I only did one, a frontline ambulance Jeep. The rest got camouflaged with shelf dust and cobwebs.
I also thought about doing a captured Pacific island airfield for our battlefield. The Sea Bees would be involved with improving it That didn't work out because there aren't many Japanese R/C tanks out there, but I still have the stuff to do it. Everytime I watch a rerun of "Black Sheep", Pappy Boyingtons' Marine squadron, I get all fired about it up again.
Somehow I goofed and double posted the photos......excuse me!

Those are crazy prices! I paid only $16 to $20 for mine, each.

the indiana jones stuff is almost 1/16 fits good better then the 21 st century 1/18 stuff
the highway 61 i bought them in your country on ebay about 65 euro's
the dumptrucks were from holland all 1/16 exact scale, i have posted the real ones next too these models are pearls of diecast and not that expensive rather cheap for all the working parts on it can't be better for that price

The Horch compares well against the 4 wheeled Dodge Weapons carriers from 21st Cent, the 6 wheeled trucks are a little undersized when sat next to the WC-63's. The figure are definitely smaller than 1/18 scale tho...
I really like them, they are a nice addition to a scene when 'strategically positioned' away from the larger scale items.
To get back on topic - I have the Highway 61 USMC GMC dump truck, and I'd like to RC it. I did look at using the drive line from a WSN M16 half track, but I don't think it will be man enough for the job - has anyone here had a crack at this, and what did you use for gearbox and axle?

The difference doesn't bother me too much unless it's a Sherman passing another Sherman. But even then, the battles are usually so intense you don't have time to notice.

The 1/16 trucks are great I have been redoing these for quite a while now. They are VERY heavy and detail nicely. It is a lot of work but I do enjoy it. I have aslo sold a few here and there.

Hi Martin: To date any RC parts I have tried from a plasitc model were much to flimsy to use in a die-cast vehicle. When something did function okay, they were unable to climb any hills or grades due to the heavy wieght of the die-cast bodies. I will have to use a RC tank metal drivetrain or something equally substantial. Your truck look great. I can't wait to see them in March....LOL
Here are some pix from my fleet and some that I sold at past Danville events. Bob Held
