Unfortunately it's all urban myth, Lee Marvin was wounded at Saipan, Bob Keeshan joined the marines to late to serve in combat and Fred Rogers never served in the military.

So I found this cleaning the basement and thought I would share it. I sketched it from a picture in a book when I was 14. All these years later I still think tanks are cool.

RE: The Tanker's Lounge
Thanks, I don't think I even knew what a Jagdpanther was back then. I just thought it was cool.

RE: The Tanker's Lounge
So, based on your last statement - was that supposed to be a JagdPanther in the background or JagdPanzerIV L/70? like I initially thought it was
Either way its a cool drawing

RE: The Tanker's Lounge
I don't know... the book the picture is in is long gone so I have know way of looking it up. I did always think the one in the background was something else cause it sketched out so different. All these years I thought I had f***** it up, but perhaps I just sketched two kinds of AFVs.

Looks good! The Jagdpanther was the best designed tank hunter of WWII, just not enough of them were built and was much too late to make a difference.

Wow, is it really December 1st already?
Everyone ready for all those Christmas songs plus displays everywhere you go and then don't forget ...
... the BELL RINGERS!!!!! []
We missed the first storm of the season yesterday. Some North of us are still without power.
Yep, it's wintertime already.[:@]

Went to the Half Price Book Store Friday and found a book on the Waffen-SS Divisions 1939-45 ... a vehicle identification guide for only $8.00. Not bad for a book 186 pages long, stuffed with paint guides and information. The perfect Axis tank book.

This is a video of a working model of a tiny engine that blows me away. It is really worth watching, and the music is inspirational. After seeing this, I am embarassed to call myself a model builder.............

What I like about this effort is that there are no rules, no rivet counting, no suggestions as to "how to do it".

RE: The Tanker's Lounge
Well I and nearly died last week at work. I was almost electrocuted at work while fighting a fire last Tuesday night. While commanding an interior attack team at a fire in an abandoned night club, a spiders nest of arcing power lines nearly fell on my head. We had zero visibility and no second means of escape (both carnal sins in the Fire Dept). Afterwards, I had some hard questions for the Incident Commander like 'Why didn't you have a ventilation plan?', and 'why are we risking our lives for an abandoned property?'. The fire could have gotten much worse if we had not found it so quickly as there was flash-over potential (think room exploding into flame). I been pretty shook up about it over the past few days and I am glad to be alive.

Breath in and out... over and over till you remember that each breath is a gift... and could be your last. I'm glad you lived through it. I'm glad you are up and typing.
Did you end up being a ground? I have been to the power company training, I know what that does.
I hear you brother, I have been there, faced the beast, I'm shaking now thinking about you. I have 19 years of Firefighting behind be. Glad you made it back to quarters.
Question your IC and help prevent this in the future. Too much of the story sounds like the calls I thought were spooky, abandoned building, no good escape... confusion, hazards everywhere, I too have been in places that no sane man would go. Why do we rush in to save "stuff" like it's a crying baby?
Everytime we roll, I know that it could get bad. Twice I have shaken a fellow FF hand and went in knowing we would be dead if we failed. In all my years we have had only one bad accident, not on my watch, and nobody has died, FF or civilans. Thank God. Hug your family, they are riding with you on every call.
Very happy it did not flashover!
Talk more or PM me if it helps. Greg

Glad to have you back, Fireman Tim.
Hope you fully recover from that experience and put it behind you so you can move forward. Just be mindful in the future.
