1/24 Abrams Modified
Just a little side project here but proving quite challenging! I've had this 1/24 VS Tank Pro M1A2 Abrams for some time now and although the detail, build quality and bb gun were awsome I was put off by the crappy non proportional electronics and innaccurately low ground clearance.
So the plan now is to sort all this. I've lost around 8mm from the hull by cutting and glueing back together and I've had to lose the battery box which is fine because I plan on mounting 4 of the 8 aa rechargeables in the front for better balance. I've also increased the suspension travel by lengthening the swing arm slots. The inner arms had to be modified slightly to clear the new bottom hull level as well.
I plan on using Heng Long rx18 for electronics but keeping the volume on low!! The silly track recoil won't matter because I won't be using the k button. Although it would be nice if I could figure out a way to activate the cannon sound when firing the bb gun.
I'll need to find a convenient place to mount a charging jack. Difficult on 1/24! Any ideas?
The issue I've found though since trial fitting the two battery boxes is that there isn't much room left in the hull for the rx18. Haven't pulled the turret apart yet so we'll see if it'll fit in there. Not looking forward to connecting all the wiring!
One other thing I may do in the future if I'm feeling brave is to make proper functioning sprockets by using a spare set that I have. Not sure on this yet!
Pics below, hopefully...
