Airsoft Gun on RC Tank
Today me and my brother decided to mount an airsoft pistol on my old RC tank.
Here were the requirements
Gas Blowback (you only have to cock the magazine one to shoot the gun until you run out of ammo.)
Lightweight
360 degree turret motion
High FPS (the version of my tank that came with an airsoft gun was 50fps, the pistol we used was 350fps.
We ended up taking off the whole top portion and only leaving the motors for turning the turret and making it go up and down. Here is what we did with each.
Turning motor: used with a homemade gun mount to turn gun left and right
Vertical motor: we got the gear and shaved it down into the shape of a RC car servo arm, and duct taped it on the trigger.
The tank works just like normal (except we removed the leds, sound system, and speaker) but to fire you press the turret up, and when it fires you press the turret down and repeat without having to cock the gun.

RE: Airsoft Gun on RC Tank
I saw your tank, and I know your reason for upgrading it. The airsoft version of my tank was 50 FPS.
After my first post my brother and I decided to drill the bottom out so me could access the magazine. We ended up making a rectangle with the small sides parallel to the tank treads. This slows us to turn normally but to eject the mag you turn the gun sideways and eject the magazine.
This project took us 6 hours strait, it would have been closer to 5 if I hadn't yanked the wireless cord. All 5 cords ripped of (power, data, ground, crystal in, and crystal out) luckily I remembered where all the cords went so I was able to solder them all back on.

Why would I get arrested its 100% legal. It's just an airsoft gun. If its legal to have a RC tank with a built in airsoft gun, how could it be illegal to have one on the outside.

the orange tip is the main thing, otherwise its fine but he is talking more about the appearance, if the someone sees a HL airsoft tank they see an airsoft tank that shoots pellets, if they see one with an airsoft gun its a tank with a gun attached. It shouldn't actually be that bad, just dont run it in a public square or something, you know? In case of crazies? I think your fine.
