(Camo)New Guy on the Block
Hi !!
I have been reading posts and looking at manypictures about many, many interesting subjects for the last two months.
All I have to say is(JEESE!) where were you all when I needed you when I was deep into WC Tanks (wire), trucks, planes, HO trainsand artillery pieces.
OOPPSS thats right ,we did not have computers and the internet in 1969 / 70 etc.
My firsr WC tank was a Tamya 1 : 24 Centurian and the second was 1 : 35 Tamya Leopard they both had transmissions and motors similar to todays tanks and also similar turret gears but that was it plus a hundred feet of trailing wire.
Today I have an RC 1:16 M-26 Pershing and an RC1:72 VSX Tiger.
I do love the look of a new vehicle of any description but you may note( In my attached pictures)that my choice of Camo has been leaning towards my past experiances as a Company Commander in the Infantry.
I worked with and drove most of ( Except the Centurian) the following vehicles, Centurian, M-113 APC, 5 Ton Truck, 2 1/2 ton 6 x 6, 3/4 ton 4 x 4 and 1 / 4 ton jeep 4 x 4.
One thing I observed over 15 years was that all of these vehicles had one common thread running through ther camo schemes.
They all were constantly covered in mud, sand, branches, slime and swamp goop. ( I believe it worked well for the most part )
You will see this common thread more in my recent M-26 Pershingand Tiger, a little less in my 1969 Leopard.
I have enjoyed my two RC battle days and I thank those members of the local RC Tank Club ( CAN-AM RC Tank Club ) in Fort Erie for showing me the way to RC Tanking and introducing me to the RCU Forum.
