Well this month keeps getting better
This has been a crappy month
In the last month or so I had really planned to get a Tamiya Sherman but have had some problems
1) Nephew was admitted to Hospital last week
2) Mother in Law was admitted last week
Thankfully both are out now . But last week we had a water leak in the roof and the roofer ( who is a family friend said that we have to get a new one ) price is great also and leaves me some extra still for the Tamiya.
And since Tuesday I have been hearing a noise coming from my attic. Only in one spot too. So I have been up there about 10 times in the last two days to look around and I dont see anything. I have looked around under insulation to see if I could see mouse droppings and nope nothing. I put about 4 snap traps up there and baited it with peanut butter so hopefully if there is anything I will catch it that way. My wife thinks Im going crazy
Has anybody ever had any noises in the attic and what was it? and what did you do?
Im at my wits end here
Sorry to go off topic guys, But I have made a number of friends here who have always been willing to help for hobby problems and real life problems.
Jeremy
PS- Im still really hoping I can get that Sherman[8D]
Oh and to top it off, Its my 30th birthday on Friday and I usually have bad luck on my birthday. I can see this year is no exception...[&:]

Oh! I did once, and during the month of December too!
But it just turned out to be a Santa with Dyslexia.
Hey, chill for awhile and look around. As long as you have your health you're a rich man. Enjoy the birthday as finally making it to a milestone because after 40, they all come too fast!
Take the wife out to dinner and tip the waiter ... you'll feel better about things soon.
(Just as a suggestion, get the Mato Sherman and save a little cash. Get the Tamiya later)

I used to live and work in rural AZ. Moth balls under the house was how people kept skunks, snakes, and pack rats out from going under their mobile homes or houses and nesting. Also had a friend who had a coatimundi in his attic, and that's how he ran it out...moth balls.
Good luck with the rest.
Good luck with the rest.

Thanks for the tips, Yeah I think your right I will just chill and take a look around.
I have always worried that mice in my attic are going to chew wires and burn my house down. I think thats the real reason it has really bothered me.
Like my dad told me, When he was a kid growing up on the farm you could hear them in the wall of there old farm house/
That would make me flip,lol[&:]

At least you don't see your couch moving, dad a story about a guy in a PMQ who's couch moved from all the mice.
For your attic try to id where the noise is, it could be on the outside. But I did a lot of data cabling in my time we did not always find dropping when there were chewed wires. If there are no obvious holes in the roof or sofet it would be small animal, so look for nests. For mice and rats they tend to be about fist sized or a little bigger, if you have fiberglass insulation they will tear up and build their nest. The shape is very similar to a birds nest.
With luck nothing is living up there, if it is mice get rid of them fast the breed quick.

Set traps and check them every day but your birthday, go have fun then.
Peanut butter is good bait, but I sometimes use part of an Oreo cookie.
Place the traps in pinch points that force the mice to walk near the trap.
Wear gloves to empty the traps.
Go up into the attic and hold still for 5 full min, and listen. Mice cant hold still that long.
If your house has a modern electric breaker panel, the chance of fire is low.
One summer in Nevada I caught 14 mice per day, for a week, inside the house at a friends ranch. It got to be like small scale hunting.

Please do not use moth balls - they are very toxic and can make you very sick - if you have animals like a dog it could kill them if they eat a few. Lavender and cloves mice and rats hate both. What you really need is a mouser( big male cat)and all your mouse problems will be gone.
As far as the volesand/or moles- new sod is not going to fix the problem, you need to get rid of the bugs in the lawn that they eat. Grubs is their favorite so go get yourself some grub killer and put it down nowbefore that new sod gets tracked up too. Bubble gum also works great, the moles/voles eats it andtheir mouth gets stuckafter and they die.
Also almond spread works better than peanut butter -caught 5-6 mice in one hour with it.Been there and done it!

You can jump on the occasion to be creative and design your own non-lethal rodent trap !!!
I had mice in my apartment a couple years ago and I built this ...youtu.be/SHEHOzLQ8tY

OK, if you need a better mouse trap... here it is.
This is how we catch mice in Colorado.
A bucket with a few inches of water, a drum with peanut butter around the outside, a ramp so they can get up to a point where they jump onto the peanut butter, and volla, they roll into the water and drown! Just dump out the water every other day or it smells. This trap can catch many mice before you need to empty it.

Karen,
You never cease to amaze me. You are one unique womwn. Know about tanks, IR battles and can even get rid of mice and moles. Wow, are you married?
