NEAD Battleday After-action report 3-18-12
NEAD After-action Report:
NEAD had about 10 tankers gather on and warm late winter day at Sherry Field at the Westwood/Wash.Twp. boarder on northern NJ. Scott put many hours into grooming the battlefield into a usable condition. I was able to briefly help him for a few hours yesterday. This park has been terribly abused for the last year or so and this is the third or fourth time we have tried to reclaim a usable battlefield there. We had enjoyed a fairly flat field with a few dips and a nice water feature for Charlies (Sailor204) handmade bridge to span. That was all bulldozed over about a year a a half ago. We recalimed what we could and made it useable agian just to have it destroyed in the fall of 2010...again. We had our winter battle there last year and all went well with the aid of my snowblower. The local DPW worked there charm again in the spring and left us a wastland of debris. Scot and the guys revamped it a few weeks ago just to have it ruined again with logs and tree linbs. Now we have a new spot to try. It has many hills and ruts but that is good for our tank battles. We all had a grea time and for two guys it was there first time with IR tank battles. Both did very well and managed to draw blood and rack up kills. More to come...dinner time now....LOL

Sure with two cats up against me it was worth a try ,man this field was a killer on the tanks today ,tracks being thrown / lost left and right. idlers being ripped off and tanks loosing solid ground getting hung up on short stems.

We had to battle through some pretty hostile environment but it was fun non the less. i like the pic of my sons Pershing blowing the entire upper deck off that KT. Not a good idea to mess with a Pershing with a south Jersey attitude. LOL.

I do regret that it appears we may need to find a more permanent battle field. It is pointless to put all this work in this field to only have it ruined by the TWP, every two weeks.
We need a permanent base of operations. The nice thing is we finally have a comparative number of Allied tanks as we do AXis, which I think makes for better rounds of competition.
Scott has done an exemplary job here but it is beginning to look like it is not worth it with this location,

Our NEAD APRIL (Corrected from May) battleday will be in Danville at the AAF Tank Museum for the Extravaganza. We will go from famine to feast....
I have not given up on Sherry Field yet... but if they mess with that one more time.... I'm done [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

Well Steve. I guess we could throw something together some where. the big question is where. Scott keeps bustin his tail on the field and the DWP just bulldozes right over all his hard work. It is just not fair to him. It would be nice to have a field that more central to everyone, that way we could all lend a hand in building and maintaining a field. I feel guilty knowing Scott is always out there but I live 2 hours away. It's not just a quick trip to come up and help out. I would love too but there it is.

So for our club no battle day till June?
mustclime I don't think everyone will be going out to those april and may battles so i would still go ahead with the 3rd sunday of each month and see how it goes.

My thumbs and late night typing must have caught-up with me. If we have decent weather in May I like to see if we can get a combination workday/battleday going perhaps early in the moth starting around 8 AM. Scot and I discussed this possibility just before leaving the field on Sunday. Will anyone else be available to help us. I've alread got two blisters from last time....LOL
