REASON # 4: FLAMETHROWERS
IF YOU SEE ONE THING THERE, SEE THIS....Of all the weapons the flamethower is the most violent and destructive displayed at the Extravaganza. The tanks and guns are spectacular, but the flamethrower's heat and smoke is just awesome. The smell and the huge mushroom cloud is immense. The whole crowd takes a step back at the roar of the flames. See it, feel it, hear it...

Yes, but unfortunately Martin is across the pond with his Shermans and I do not think he has an LVT to get here at this point.

REASON # 3: THE REAL TANK COMMANDERS, RE-ENACTORS, WAR GAMERS, MILITARY VENDORS, MODEL CONTESTS, RC TANK RAFFLES AND MORE...
Where can you talk to a real tank commander WW II, Korea and Desert Storm too. There is so much going on. All the above listed stuff and it never ends. I won a Tamiya Leopard tank there a few years ago. Brett has won a RC tank twice and Tony got his Sherman there last year. There is a uniform contest and book vendors.
I could go on and on. Here is a partial listing ov the schedule of events:

Flame Thrower Demonstration
Catch the Cannonball
Bomb Dog Demonstration
12:00 Noon
Crush a Car with a Tank

REASON # 2: THE INCREDIBLE VARIETY OR RC TANKS AND OTHER RC VEHICLES THAT CONRGEGATE AT DANVILLE.
It you want to see an astounding variety of RC tanks and other RCs, this is the place. These are not prototypes of future production vehicles like at a show, but hand made customs of all types. Custom German, Russian, Chech, Japanesse and English tanks. Herman's Amtracks, Willy's trucks, Brett's tank recovery trucks, James' Cromwell or Hellcat, Erics Ziryni or black Eagle....the variety is endless. If you want to see tips and tricks in radios systems, Cameras (on-board HD is my favorite), gear reductions, zimmerit, paint scheme & camo patterns or future, build ideas, they are all here.

REASON # 1 COMES TO US CARE OF DANNY LO: "We get to spend quality time with our kids! And meet new folks and get to hang out with the friends we made last time we visited".
Thanks Danny...last fall we had 5 father and son/daughter teams come to Danville. I've made some great friends there too. It is like we are an extended family there. Come and join us in the fun and comaraderie.

Speed is a completely irrelevant thing when going to a battle day, as long as you don't get caught!

Great turn out. I wish I was there. Just for laughs I checked on a last minute flight. Was $3600 return. I decide to wait

RE: WE ARE HERE AND HAVING A GREAT TIME AT AAF Tank Museum Extravaganza
The Extravaganza was a success! Thanks to everyone who traveled so far. We had 40 tankers with 140 tanks! We ran lots of battles with 10 verses 10 tanks! Just imagine, that's 20 RC tank engines roaring at once!
A personal thanks to each of you tankers for being so willing to try the new TFA battle mod this weekend. It seemed to improve realism as well as help the beginners with the learning curve in IR combat. I felt the mod was an equalizer...letting the newbies and kids fight along side the veterens better than before. I didn't hear complaints about the apple mod, so I guess we will use it in some future battledays.
Thanks to Bob of NEAD for help with the event, and Doug for all the battlefield preparations. Many thanks to Karen and the museum staff for once again letting us play in the world's coolest sandbox!
See you all again in June or September or November at Danville. Thanks, Dana
