Default To all European Clubs - D Day 2014

D-Day 2014!

70th anniversary, not too many more years before all of the Veterans from either side have left us - only one WW2 service member left in my immediate family[&o] - Who is up for a tank meeting on the beaches?
(yes I posted this previously, but that was buried in another thread)

European clubs sound off now so that we can get this rolling please!?

Karel47 and club?
Flamme and club?
BTN members?
Hal - long trip for your crew, but you guys can drive my tanks any day ;o)
Bob? (and other US members)
Anybody I missed... Get in!

Thnx
Martin

Yes, the idea would be to meet near (or on) a beach in Normandy

So Normandy (France), June 6th,2014... Am I correct?

Information about particular place, to plan the trip? What is planned or at least intentions: RCTank Battles, Tank Biathlon or anything else?
What about visa support as French Embassy here is tough?

Our Check colleagues that came to visit us in April (at HobbyExpo 2012) saw the competition...

Don't have any info as yet, I just kicked this off last night - One of the UK club members has some contacts with local govt in the area, and if the local clubs have any contacts that would help too.

I'm not so sure there is much enthusiasm for Danville style battles within the UK club, but if there is enough of us then we can get on to it [8D]

At the moment the first step is to gauge the interest, then see who knows the right people to secure us a site once we have a rough idea of how many are going.

What makes you think I would want to come back....I was just there!!!

Steve, Dennis and I have already been talking about our "Next trip".

It would be great to have more guys to meet "over there". Steve is from Florida and I'm by New York, but we meet at an event in Texas. Well planned travel is quite easy. I would be glad to answer any questions here on RCU for you guys. I know many of our fellow form members in the EU can also offer assistance.

After summer vacation I will have to start banking the funds. FYI guys, both of my European trips (the 65th D-Day Aniversary & the "Tankers Dream Tour" both cost me less than I estimated.

Martin Knows the UK sights very well and I (while no expert) have been there twice and have first-hand knowledge on what is a must see and what is optional or not worthwhile. Pegasus Bridge and the Gondree Cafe is a must... but the Merville gun battery nearby is a bust.

Hey Rob,

I think we should work this out this year and get a pitch booked - the world and his dog will be descending on Normandy in June 2014, and we can easily fill a 30 x 20 meter display space if all of the European clubs turn up

6th June 2014 is a Friday, I'd suggest making our way over on the Wednesday, and then home again on the following Tuesday - time for a bit of group sightseeing after the crowds go home

Flamme - if you're reading this, your crew put on an amazing show this year and we'd like to join you in 2014 if we can? [8D]

I'm not opposed to Joining Karel in the Ardennes either - just not on the anniversary of the Bulge [&:] - at least with the tanks anyway, maybe a guided tour in our cars?

Martin, I am putting this on my calendar as a "must do". I will plan on being over there for a longer period so I can see more of the history in the U.K. and Europe. Dennis

Space will be at a premium that weekend, I'll settle for anywhere we can get that has camping facilities reasonably close by
