Default M41 finally done(or at least for now)

Well after almost 2 years of fiddeling with it when I had some spare time I finally have the M41 finished. Just need to install one of the new speakers that Phil carries to see if that improves the sound.Other then that it has just about every upgrade youcan get for the M41.Gave up on the rubber padded tracks as it's just not worth the effort as everything I tried just wears off in practically no time. Be that as it may hopefully you all like what I came up with.....oops forgot to mention I have a custom made weatheredIsraeli ID flag coming in that I will drape loosely across the back of the turret(hanging off to one side a lil bit)....maybe not authentic but I just wanted a "what-if" kinda concept.

yeah I have a 5mm LED I was gonna throw into it when I actually felt like working on it some more lol. Kinda in the mood for a KV-2(fully loaded, battle ready) "beutepanzer" so I can cruise out to Jersey sometime and get some battling in..

IMO and you already know this, but doesn't matter if its authentic, It looks great and a one of kind build. And if you have to install a new speaker then it isn't finished now is it. . Love it DB

Cheers,
Wade

I think this tank looks great!!! And the thing that makes it so unique is the search light above everything else!!! Ok, the paint and weathering are way better then the search light. I just talk about the search light, because it is the only thing I can say, like shake and bake, "And I helped". Very cool tank Brent. You should do a M-48 conversion to Israeli Self Defense. 1/18 M-48 is close enough. Although a Beaut Panzer KV-1 would be cool as well. I like the T-34 Beaut myself.

Hi Dirtybird
That drawing is interesting - an early turret on mid-late hull - the idler being rubber tyred, mid late tow rope brackets, single piece, single prong type brackets. Also only 3 engine grille hinges, vs the early 5 hinges, on the left hand side.

Re your tank, it looks good, but you've played too safe by removing the track pads

lol....well when it comes to ultimate M41 detail I'll give it up to you, I just wanted something fun with enough detail to suitmost tankers.....I'd still like one of your barrel travel-locks

Figured, though not sure I'm comfortable with 'ultimate', definitely OCD though.

I might go ahead an paint the tail lights to try and get the split effect like you did with your tail light covers.....that's a nice little detail..

Re the tail lights, I did my first M41 with brass discs, drilled & filed out the various openings, but the Tamiya Sherman Sprue D parts is much easier - cept on the wallet.
Re the Travel lock, one of these days I'll get around to finishing the "how to". Currently waiting on metal wheels & steel axles from RCtank.de.
