I have seen this photo on the interweb lately, I thought this was the 16th prototype from 2001, or is this the 35th scale?

Scalewise, it depends if those are 3 or 5mm LEDs, but my guess going on the relative size of the base for the tower, it's 1/16.

Unless they internalized the baffles, which are an important part to a lot of battlers, and I don't see why they would, it's probably part of prototyping like you said.
