Default HL Pz IV, 3:1 Gearboxes????

I have read these will fit the HL Pz IV.
Has anyone tried them in a Pz IV?

I've had these in my PZIII and PZIV along with my tiger for 3 years and haven't had any trouble with them, HOWEVER you'll need the short shaft one not the long shaft.

The New Mato 2.0 Gearbox's work great. Those are my 480 motors in the picture below. you will need to cut the Mato mounting plate in half and take a knotch of it, but its not to tough to do. Or we can do it for you at your request.

you could just stack styrene sheets in there to the height of the standoffs and through drill it. End up with a mounting that is infinetely stronger with no flexure and dispose of the HL standoffs and their split a day nature. Sorry Phil, love you and love everything you sell but those plates are chincy.

Hello Perry,

I respect your opinion, but I think you have the plates mistaken for something I use to sell. These plates are the Mato steel plate cut into two pieces that comes with the Mato Gearbox. That is designed for the Heng long standoffs and is much stronger then styrene in my opinion. Maybe you still prefer one sheet of styrene? I do not think you have tested this set up using the Mato plate that comes with the new Mato 2.0 gearbox or have you?

If you are on a tight budget or do not battle a tank heavily the styrene would be okay for a motor mount. Since H L tanks are so light-weight the metal plates are vital for a stable mount that will add a little heft and durability to a tank. This is a big plus if you enjoy running them alot and/or IR tank battle them. Additionally, to properly oil and grease the TUs I prefer to keep metal on metal mounts with loctite holding down the TU fasteners. It is even more critical if the TUs are in the front of the tank since they tend to hit things and climb obstacles. The TUs need a secure anchorage. Spending a few bucks there is a wise investment.

Hey Glen I have Mato 3:1 gear box in me Panzer lV. Removed all the mounts off the lower hull. Made a new deck from sheet styrene Raised the gear box to right hight.
The drive and tracks are the new panzer lV late track set from Mato. The tracks are close pin #MT011A
All I need is set of track adjusters to finish the hull. It was fun to build.

Cheers
John
