Impact are really good tracks. Not to expensive I have paid only $90 on Ebay and that set came with the drive sprocket, idler, and replacement swing arms kit as well. Even if you buy them direct from Mitosal the tracks alone are only $75, and the tracks with the kit I got is only $97.50, right now.

Look what Asiatam has for the StuG III G. Early Schurzen made out of aluminum sheet and die-cast aluminum parts for the hangers. The set cost roughly $38 U.S. dollars. It is 28.89 euros.

WLY22, sorry that is the photo from the Asiatam site for the Schurzen. I am going to get a set though. Just wanted to share that this was available.

I may do a camo like that. It looks good.

Jim,

Here is the site...

http://www.asiatam.com/seitliche-alu...ug-p-1040.html

I didn't see them for the Panzer III or Panzer IV, but they do have them for the StuG IV.
Maybe they will add them. They look more scale then the plastic version.

MAUS45,
Yeah I know what you mean about the plastic version. I'm currently trying to figure out the palstic version for the PZ III. all pieces are flat, so some creative bending will be needed. Not sure what type glue to use either?? Maybe someone will chime in. Again thanks for sharing.

What kind of vinegar did you use? The white or clear kind or the yellow kind?

Maus45,
I used the clear vinegar. Put the tracks in a empty folgers plastic can and let them soak about 45 minutes per side ( since they will be laying down on one side then the other curled up). I did one track at a time and dumped the vinegar and used freash for the seconde track. You'll probably need to scrub them a bit after to get rid of the sclae build-up. If they come out too greyish, you can coat them with gun bluing. Don't worry the bluing rubs off the raised area very quickly. I'll have to take some new pics of my PZIV ( the old pics are on my old crashed computer). They started out as the grey metal colored tracks and look very much like used tracks now. I did the same with Mato black tracks and they also came out very nice. Just about matched my Jagdpanther tracks which are about 4 years old and run mostly in the yard.

Not to fast, just received one set of replacement wheels for my StuG's. Also have metal suspension upgrades and drive sprockets. I will take photos of them when I get home today and post them. Parts look scale and will look good on the StuG's.

Maus45,
Your Stugs are looking great! I started to mod a HL Stug to a late one. I also want to use the pigs head mantlet. How does the mantlet attach to the recoil mechanism? I recently received an order from Asiatam and it included the schurzen you posted on earlier.

I can not decide if I want to use the set you got or try converting the StuG IV set to fit the StuG III. Both types were used the set you have was used on the early StuG III G and some of the Late StuG III G's with the pig's head mantlet, but they also used the later schurzen as well.

I opted for the earlier version because I was going for a Stug III that had been retrofitted and then had field modifications added, like concrete armor.

Here are photos of the upgrade parts I have for the StuG's. I have included for comparison a set of Asiatam and Impact upgrade parts. First are the Drive Sprockets and Idlers. First photos are Asiatam and the next are Impact. You will notice the Asiatam set has bearings in the Idler and two different caps for the drive sprocket while the Impact Idler has a bronze bushing and just one cap for the sprocket.

And here are the Asiatam replacement armored air intakes and the wading muffler and closed wading hatches for the rear lower engine deck. I am going to use the wading parts on my StuG III G based on the Panzer III M lower hull.

Yeah, that's my question... bearing or bushings. I have most of what you have shown, but for one tank as I have 2 to put together. I'd like to bearing or bushing them both up but have not seen anyone selling them as such so we must 'do-it' ourselves, huh.

AS little as I run them I shouldn't really worry about it but need them to be at their best if I ever need to sell them at a later date.

Nice comparison pictures! Great for those who haven't bought anything for their tanks yet! Thanks.

I also used the wading muffler/exhaust. The only difference is the muffler pipe needs to be longer. The muffler needs to go further to the right, just about to the rear fender. While it's not 100%, I still like the look it gives. See the drawing and then my PZ III and you'll see what I'm talking about. Wonder if anyone has lengthend the pipe to move the muffler over some more?
