This is awesome and exactly why I now must now build an RC MAUS.

Thanks for the inspiration Scott!

I would love to see a maus, I have pretty much figured out how to do one but it would take at least twice as long to build as the tiger maus. It would also tke abouttwice the cash. I would like to see some one build a lowe also and that would also take much less time to make with Chris's kit and a hl king tiger .....

thanks for the kind comments guys...

Well one more comment as I do not want to hi-jack this thread but the MAUS will happen.

I already have things in place, alterations being made and parts set aside. Oppps... I've said too much!

I have a Late Panther I need to "get out of the way" first, then the Sherman's and then the MAUS.

Like Scott knows, it's only money and time.

thanks... I was working on the hull and tracks last night.....I bolted up the fenders after adding welds and texture to the slabs of plastic....

For the tracks I am planing on making 2 sets of tracks for the tank....one set will be stock king tiger tracks with duckbills glued on with PVC solvent glue...the display tracks will be hl king tiger tracks with 10mm of other track links and duck bills glued on to them....they will be sale size at 62mm wide....the main problem is the track pins...you need a tempered wire, I found that piano wire is pretty much dead on but the stuff is not cheep.....so the display tracks will have to wait till I find a job......

took me about 2 hours to make one track with the duckbills.....

this is the look I am going for...

Next is back to the turret, I have to figure out how to make the guts before I add any more detail....I have a hl stug elevation unit for moving the gun but recoil has me at a loss.....

What electronics are you using? A clark servo recoil with a big servo might work?

What I would like to use istamiya but no money is going tokill that....I have 2 of the first genClark boards, so I guess I will end up using one those. I think they do nothave the slow down fetcher with battle damage but this thing is going to be a slow pig anyway. I still have to buy a tamiya apple( battle system add on).....as for the servo recoil....I am a old modeler,Ido not know anything about remote control sosimple things like what servo to use....I have no idea......

Im sure theres a afew folks on here could help. Maybe ask clark im sure he would have some ideas if you explain the setup and what your aiming for. I think the lack of battle damage on this would be very realistic! If you do want it though send em back to clark and he will update the software

Took the e-100 down to the Danville event.....all of the bridges are now rated for 120 tons......

figured out the tow loops.....or my version of them.....I carved them out of 6mm think blocks of styreen...

look kinda close to this....

tank now drives with the Clark board, now to get the turret working....

Well been working through the dead of winter on the e100.....30 degrees in my work shop....pulled the wheels and got them ready for paint...

made up the speaker box with one of Phil's Sony speakers.....

next was setting up the turret so it works with the Clark "real recoil"....time to build the frame that will mount the servo and hold the gun...

and the test.....

it works great!.....next I hit a wall.....silly me I assumed that if the board was going to use a tamiya apple, then the tamiya apple mount and ir light would just plug in....

nope....the apple mount needs a heng long style 5 pin plug and the Ir light needs a very small 2 pin plug.....both of witch Clark sells sepretly.....great......for some reason I can not get onto the clark site....checked everything, think its my internet previder limiting bandwidth or something...this is my third suprize with clark. I am really upset with these guys.....anyone have some another sorce for the plugs and the clips that go inside them? Really thinking about just going with tamiya.....

Ok, back again....getting my butt kicked by the clark board.....here is the gun set up with the hl flash upgrade and real recoil...

next I started working on the gun elevation....using hl stug units....I started by froming things up on the bottom of the turret....

when I plugged everything togather, everything works but the elevation....

and guess what doen't work.....the elevation...

its getting some voltage....like .25-.29 volts but it does not move.....I am getting the sound out of the clark when it should work....I am stumped....any ideas?

Try hooking a battery to the elevation unit directly and see if it works. That'll tell if it ts the board or the unit.

Probably a bad solder point, unless it worked before. I'd place a 9-Volt over the solder on the unit first.

Back at it....my desktop computer picked up something from all those job sites and ate its self so that was a full day a half gone fixing it....what a mess....
The hatches that came with the kit do not match anything and they are completly bare.....so out came the hl hatches I had from the doner tank...

cut the cover plate for the hinge....

I will add some texture and they will be done....next was the 75mm above the 128mm main gun....I am using the 75mm as my mount for the IR light so I wanted it to be well allined with the main gun.....I used a tube that the ir light and tube will fit into and glued it in so it would be well alined....

next on my hit list are the fender cranes for lifting those huge fenders up onto the tank after transport, I figured they would be carried on the tank as any track work would require the fenders to be pulled....I am also making pullies for them...

here is what they look like on the tank...

here is a drawing I found on wot as how they would have worked....mine are a little different....

I had a really really crappy time getting the elevation to work right on my KT. Finally, the light came on and I mounted a heavy servo to the cannon and plugged it into my Accessory RX which is controlled by a rotating knob on my Turnigy 9X. Now, it works great, no problems and moves the barrel realistically. Plus, you don't have to mess around with your right stick trying to find exactly where the control is for the elevation.

Back again....my mancave has been really cold(teens) so work has slowed down....here are some shots of the cranes,,,note the failed tiger hatch with a shell discharge hatch....

note the track hangers and the staples I use to make them....

next was the fake tracks I made out of the kt tracks...they are not "correct"

note the shoe goo cap I modded to get thin streams of goo...kinda proud of that one, works great....now the rear turret hatch with the shell discharge hatch....

why do I do all this work?....this is why...

almost ready for paint......

Well, I have been painting and painting and painting.....decideded on going with something like the E-100 in this....

still sorting the tank.....lubing the wheels...

installing the starter switch and speaker knob...

adding the numbers and alike....

more details

Ended up doing a lot of black wash, I figured that driving through fields of burning T34's would tend to leave the tank covered with more black run off than white....of course My elevation unit ate its self before I got much of a drive so the turret needs some work and the IR light in the 75mm gun tube does not seem to be lighting up when the gun is fired( have to figure that one out as this is my first clark board tank) ....I also plan on adding some battle damage.....so here is the peak at what she looks like....before she is totaly sorted....
