My PZ III
Hi all,
My other posts didn't seem to attract much attention,( maybe because the pics were on later pages ) so I'm reposting some old and newer piocs of my PZ III with the turret skirts from
rctank.de. Dominique sent some additional pics ( unfortunately it's a word document and I can't figure out how to repost it, PM me and I'll send you a copy ) of the PZ II side and turret skirt kit they offer. I used the plastic parts for the turret, but plan on replicating the side skirts, and hangers in brass. I feel they will be much mor durable that way.
Anyway. herre are some pics of my progress. As is always, any help and or critisism is welcome.

Thanks. Actrually kinda both. I bought the kit from rctank.de. I emailed them and asked about some instructions. While they do not provide instructions with there kits. Dominique did send me a word file that had some better pics. I put two and two together and this is my result. I do plan on doing the lower skirts and hangers in brass as I think i may have said already they'll be a bit more durable then the plastic. I will use the plastic parts as a mold of sorts for the brass replacements.
The one thing that still kills me is. There doesn't seeem to be any concreat info on the side door/ hatch of the turret skirts. From the pics I have seen it looks like it is a lift out. Any info on this would greatly be appreciated as I'm just about at that point now. Have to decide how I want to replicate the side door.

Thanks, Me too as far as the side skirts go. I pretty well have it thought out( actually stated thinking of this while doing my PZ IV ) so I think it ought to work. Will keep you all updated. Now to the Hobby Shop for some brass, flux and solder, dang, if only Ididn't have to to work tomorrow.

All,
Here is some more progress on my PZ III skirts. It's not much as I have been trying to determine weather the hatch was hinged at the bottom ( see the pic of a real PZ III ) and it fell outward or, it was a fall away and the bottom tube visisble in the pic of the turret skirts was for pull out pins. I'm thingking the later. Look again at the pics, it seems that there is a small stabalizer plate welded to the fixed side of the skirt. If that is the cae, then the hatch could not open outward. I now believe that the tube welded to the bottom of the fixed skirt was intended for a pull out pin (with a matching tube on the hatch ), that let the hatch fall away. The latches at the top are just for stabilization. Any thoughts? below are the real pics and the pics of my top latches. I would appreciate any all comments.

Sorry for the lapse, I had a bad accident ( I dropped the turret on the floor ). I reccommend that anyone else use the German kit as a templete and reproduce it in brass. The plastic is not at all resilent to shock and battelers will want a little more durability. Anyway, I have made repairs and added a little more detail. Next stop, Side skirts in brass.
