Hello

I here Mato will have a new shipment come out this January. Is this a new tank than the one that was produced a few years ago? If so, how would the new Walterson compare? The HL looks great. How easy would it be to put the 76mm gun and turret on the Walterson A3?

Do not have any tanks yet. Plus this is my first post!

Regards

John

I think the Airsoft nature of these tanks strikes again.
We can only hope.

then again, maybe it's just me that hopes. Airsoft crowd is thin.

Just heard on MSNBC that the LA and SF dock workers went on strike and they are rerouting shipments
to Mexico.     Couldn't have picked a better time, right before Christmas!

Correction: Seven of eight and three of six container docks in LA and Long Beach are effected by a strike by Longshore Administrative Workers Union.
Approximately 40% of US contrainer traffic is effected. Strike has been on for four days. Talks are continuing.

Ok back to the Walterson Sherman. I would ask we stay on or close to topic. These Strikes have nothing to do with this thread.
Especially considering the delivery of the product has nothing to do with the Docks in California.

... well they are coming from China, but since Immortal Hobbies is in Canada, the ports in California don't really impact their deliveries, now it would be a different story if the ports in Vancouver (I assume China imports arrive there instead of Halifax & Montreal) were on strike.

My glasses case came from CHINA...

Ooopps.... sorry OFF-TOPIC!

BTW, when will you get your hands on a Sherman?

I'm a little puzzled as to why the howitzer version. Seems even the 75 would have been more practical.
I'm a 76 version guy myself.

Because it's easier to copy something that's already out there.

Plus, only Nick makes a correct M34, M34A1 and the gun shield for the T23.

Well since Tamiya has the molds for the 105 turret where did they get these from. I still think a 75 would have been more desireable overall.
Nicks turrets are top shelf .

Probably the same place the TI, the Panther and so on got their molds from... THEY COPIED THEM!

Well, its been a while since I've posted here but this thing is forcing me too. Looking for a second tank for Christmas this year, and Im stuck on this or the Heng Long King Tiger. Emailed Freak, said he would have quotes soon so I wait with bated breath. Looks like the plastic $145 version is for me, but we'll see how things go.

This may be a bit of a tough request BUT... with this particular sherman, how close is it in the details to say, an M4A3E2 "jumbo", or turret wise, to a Firefly?

Or, on the other hands, what variants would be within reason for this Sherman?

The hull is a late model M4A3, so that limits you to M4A3 75(w), M4A3 76(w) and M4A3 105. If you add extra styrene sheet to the glacis and hull sides you can make a M4A3E2. The E2 would require a modified Mato T23 turret, as would the 76(w). I've posted one, as has Panther G and EdoubleAZ.

You should be able to get away with the HL turret for a late 75mm version (hopefully some one can confirm the cupola and oval hatch stays?), so long as you remove the rear turret roof vent - this 2nd vent is a 105mm variant only. The Mantlet would need replacing with Nick's M34A1 version tho.

The firefly would need a modified mantlet (not a million miles away from what is there already), the 2nd vent removed, radio box on the rear and a split hatch from the Mato turret in place of the commanders cupola, and a square hatch in place of the oval loaders hatch.
The hull would have to be combined with the front of a Mato to make the Firefly 1c hybrid, or stretched, the glacis sloped more, new engine deck, and small drivers hatches scratched to make a Firefly Vc (Septon's Vc build is around here somewhere)

The same comments about the glacis and drivers hatches apply to an early M4A3, you would also need to convert the turret to a low bustle version (see Yellowshaker's build of Nicks Early A3 kit on a Mato chassis)

I'm sure there's a whole load of fine details I've missed - I just intended this to be a bodgers guide to Shermans .

Hope this gives you some ideas,
Mart

Honestly I think we are talking about a 1:24 model instead a 1/16.
Take a look to this ebay auction is EXACTLY what you show
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11306756/tm.htm
Come on, honestly, who is talking about a 1:24 scale instead of a 1:16 scale in this thread any more? No one but you now, it's pretty much confirmed there is a 1:16 version.

The supposed first pictures people were posting here may have very well have been of another scale Sherman, but were the same pictures Heng Long was using on their own website for a long time when they were introducing it as a new 1:16 tank coming out.

Besides, your link pointed back to a post within this thread & not to any eBay auction .... but who really cares what eBay auction you looked at with a 1:24 scale Sherman M4A3 anyway, it's a fact there is a 1:16 Heng Long Sherman M4A3 tank now, there are plenty of real pictures & some people who already have them in their possession, with the Heng Long box having clear indication of the 1:16 size.

You must not have worked your way through the thread & taken a look at all the pictures I've already posted of it. Sure is a 1:16 tank, no doubts about it!

Well after working 6 hours in front of the screen, I checked the way the 1/16 went and as always do the news at eBay, then I found the 1/24, looked like the Mato. I had seen the pictures posted in RCU many days before and.... I don't know, maybe I was tired I posted the stupid thing about 1/24.

I don't think that deserves the level of violence in the answer this guy badass ( he really is!) has :-) LOL NO hard feelings!!!!!!!!!!
