Default Tom Jentz

Thomas Jentz has left us after a long illness. Most anyone who has done any research on a German AFV knows of him and his wonderful research and writings over the years.

Wow. Sorry to hear this.

I've had a few conversations with the man over the years, he certainly knew his stuff and probably did more than anyone else in the early days of armor research for the modeling industry. Germany's Tiger Tanks remains a ground-breaking staple in most modeler's libraries, even though he'd be the first to tell you about the innacuracies. He explained to me Panzertracts was started because Schiffer didn't want to revise the Tiger volumes once he found new information.

One of the funniest Jentz moments I remember was in a bar one year at AMPS. All of the vendors usually get together for a few pints and laughs after the show and as Tom walks in, someone steps up the Kareoke setup, flips on the mic and announces to the crowd, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, famed Nazi author Thomas Jentz'.

RIP he will be sorely missed. The panzer tracts series has been invaluable to me.

He and his work are invaluable to any armor enthusiast.

His talents and contributions will be sorely missed. No armor library is complete without his publications. Who can fill his shoes?
