Default Gas Detection Panels ~ what color?

Yeah, the three on the top of the Panther G turret... anyone know what color they were? I'm sure the bracket was the color of the tank, but they didn't place paint on the panel or they wouldn't work.

I appreciate any help or a link that describes these items as I am slowly finishing up the turret with it now having an operational rear hatch.

Default RE: Gas Detection Panels ~ what color?

Hi,
Germans were believed to be paper gas indicators.
The British used gas sensitive paint. believed to be a Yellowish Green color.
I also believe they were normally empty, as neither side was interested in using gas and Hitler himself had been gassed in WW 1 and was against it's use.

Don't know if this helps.
Stu
