Are those HL or Mato sprockets?


If they are the Mato brand, are they metal or plastic and how do they mesh with THOSE tracks?




The newly announced riders will look good on this.

The HL sprockets are too narrow so I used the Mato metal sprockets. They were a bit of a game to fit but got there in the end.

Ah, thanks Frank. I haven't got that far on measuring things yet. I have a set of HL metal tracks coming and even though they appear to be 'wrong', just the thought of rusting them up and having the chevrons shining through has me excited.

I wish I had your talent on figures. Those are pretty nice.

I think even the HL plastic tracks would look ok with a bit of paint. It will be interesting to see if the HL metal tracks are still hollow on the backs

Very nice tank - what gearboxes and motors are inside ?
Maybe any photos are possible?

The gearboxes are std HL ones. I used the plastic ones that came with the tank to see what needed to de done to fit the Mato sprockets/tracks.
The output shafts needed shortening 5.5mm, with the flat extending to suit. The shafts are also a VERY tight fit so I decreased the diameter by drill/file. The threaded hole for fixing the sprocket on is also very shallow, but now I know what needs to be done I can modify some steel stug boxes to suit

Okay... I am embarrassed to ask this but how do the HL "caps" come off the sprockets? [] I'm about to put them under my drill press, just being a little impatient tonight watching the race at the same time!

I'd like to save them with the gearboxes to possibly sell them off.


I am probably going with either the Mato or the metal HL sprockets on this M36B1 as I am might take it to Danville as the electronics are a little salty.

The caps are just a push fit, I pried them off using a scapel blade

And how Your tank is driving with HL 2:1 gearbox and T-49 metal tracks ?
I have Mato Sherman with Mato metal suspension upgrade and the same T-49 metal tracks and the original plastic Mato gearboxes (the same as HL 2:1 but in plastic case) . After some tests seems not good for it. Im wondering about 3:1 Mato metal or Waltersons gerboxes

I've also got a Mato Sheman, T-49's+metal suspension, which is fitted with Mato2 3-1's and she pulls like a train.
I haven't really pushed the HL one yet, she still has the plastic boxes in but will have the stug boxes in soon.

FINALLY... the HL Metal Tracks showed up for the Sherman! Sorry guys, they are wrong too.

But at least I didn't have to save the plastic cap for the metal sprocket as it comes with a metal version.

I take it they're single pin, with the guide horn in the wrong place. Are they still hollow on the reverse as well???

Yes, yes and YES!

But they are metal and will have a shiny chevron. [8D] And the idler has a bushing too.
