Kyosho Airium Spitfire Mk.V VE29 RTF (Ready to Fly)

KP-10951RSB

Combines super-realistic scale form with nimble flight performance!
Features advanced 4-channel R/C system with rudder for full flight control.

The dream combination of high-performance flight and incredible scale detail has finally been realized. With its stunning scale finish, you could mistake this model for a desktop display. But the compact size of this “aiRium series” model is packed with advanced micro-plane technology featuring full 4-channel control that delivers stunning flight performance. The specially designed high-performance brushless motor and ESC (electronic speed controller) combine to deliver powerful output directly to the propeller, smoothly and reliably without a gear reduction unit. When powered by a 450mAh Li-Po battery, 5-minute flight times of true fighter plane performance worthy of the SPITFIRE name are achieved. The model comes as an almost fully pre-assembled Readyset and includes an advanced 2.4GHz DSSS system that automatically selects open frequencies for safe flight control. With expert design and build to realize flight performance that will be appreciated by owners over a long period of time and a detailed scale finish that will draw admiration from all, this SPITFIRE opens the door to a deeper fascination with scale aircraft flight.

3-blade propeller doesn’t just recreate the original prop for display; it produces powerful thrust for realistic fighter plane flight performance.

Features such as panel lines, machine gun and air intake are recreated down to the finest detail. Scale form combines with nimble flight performance way beyond its actual size.

ncludes ball link display stand that can be set at various angles to recreate different flight scenes.

Karel, I get the coolness. However I am not going to stand around and battle while someone pilots a 210 gram plane close to my body or my children. If the battle area was closed in plexiglass that would solve the safety issues, but until then....

Maybe if the tanks where placed and the planes attacked and dropped markers while everyone was clear that might work. The those "hit" would be out and the battle resumed until the next wave.

I always thought it would be cool to have coodinated battles, ie. Stuka and armor or P-47s buzzing around but after spending some time with RC AC, the amount of room required for just the Ultra Micros (between 1/48 and 1/35) is roughly a football field. Anything larger will need considerable space as well as experienced pilots.

The learning curve with AC is vastly different than armor, run times are very short on electrics and wind conditions need to be ideal.

I modified a UM P-51 to use a brushless motor so it can carry some weight and after about a year and a dozen planes I've become adept enough to line up strafing runs, I bet I could set up a Mako board and emitter just like I did with the Kettenkrad rider w/Panzerschreck. It wouldn't be a battle, but trying to get a Tiger across a field before it was destroyed would be fun with lining up runs and the tank dodging.

Agree 100% with Rusty..Only safe way would be to have the planes attached to a wire ...like a zip line...suspended above the battlefield. Visual and sound would be there and the direction of the line could be varried. I've seen some pretty dumb moves with RC tanks by inexperienced operators....planes could be a great hazard.

Those are neat little planes for sure. I searched them out on youtube and they are fast and cover a lot of ground. I think it would be hard to keep them in the proximity of an IR battlefield much less have them participate in some sort of way. Maybe static props but you would be paying a lot for a static decoration. Maybe a zip line approach as described above.

A movie of tanks driving past planes taxiing for takeoff would be very cool.

Other than that, it seems like they would not mesh so well.    Funny that nobody makes tanks from Japan or England but the planes are from those countrys.

That spitfire would look nice parked next to a Chirchill...

I started RC with gas powered planes and gliders,
There is a reason I eventually switched to tanks....
90% of the time my day ends when I run out of battery, not when my take is in pieces

Still, these planes are great! Thanks for sharing.

Try flying that puppy at scale speed.

Until someone comes out with an IL-2, I'd say don't get hung up on the scale & get one of the DuraFly 1100mm Stukas. Its 1:12 but would look more fitting in the field.

Now THAT would make a real neat platform for some sort of featherweight FPV system when making an IR strafing run on a column of 1/16 tanks..

Its already here, either IR or airsoft & pretty cheap.

Of course you can always amp it up a notch. Maxtronics makes a lovely assortment of toys that, if purchased & modified, will certainly get Homeland Security's attention & you on a watch list.

Lends credeance to the idea of "Battle Damage...." I have to agree with PattonCommander.... zip line.. Having RC airplanes in a close quarter area would be totally against the AMA charter (Academy of Model Aeronautics)... Too much chance of injury.... Even with those small coax heli's.. one gust of wind and they fly into whatever.... Really cool idea!!!!but in the wrong hands, could be ugly (though please share your youtube moments......) I suppose if you do want to simulate air/ground combat.. use a human with a programmable remote.... INCOMING!!!

you can spread the contact first battle on, an when the airstrike is announced all the people of the battlefield and then lets the birds come over for a sweep only with expierenced pilots ... would be an extra consideration for clubmembers to be there and ride on ...
its not that hard to practise at home some weeks, these little birds have stabilisator systems into it so with a little practise most people can fly with it but its not a toy remember that when somebody wants to try, its no then !!!

i found one just scale 1/16 4 channel from durafly models wings 1100mm

Durafly Supermarine Spitfire Mk 24 with Retracts/Flaps/Nav Lights (PNF)
Durafly once again set the standard with this beautiful Mk 24 Spitfire, no Warbird collection could be complete without this most iconic of fighters, the Spitfire was the only allied fighter to be in service from pre to post WW2, this final version of RJ Mitchell's masterpiece was a testament to the brilliance of his design. The Mk 24's graceful yet aggressive lines make it one of the most handsome fighters ever built and there can be no doubt, Durafly have captured the very essence of the ultimate Spitfire!
As well as looking fantastic, this Spitfire is plug and fly, meaning very little assembly work is needed. The powerful outrunner motor, ESC, navigation lights, servoless electric retracts, split flaps & servos are all pre-installed leaving you with little to do, in fact you could easily be in the air in less than half an hour! At 1100mm wing span, the Spitfire is easy to transport, helped by it's easily removable wing and as it uses the ever-green 2200mAh 3s Lipoly battery, the Spit is as practical and cheap to run as the rest of the Durafly range. The modular design of the Spitfire also means parts are easy and fast to replace in the case of the worst happening, so your pride and joy can look pristine at all times!
We have flown this superb Spitfire extensively during testing and it will not disappoint, it is easy to fly but is so realistic and capable that it will satisfy the most seasoned warbird pilot. The proper split flaps, which are operated by "slow" servos offer rock solid low speed confidence without a hint of ballooning or pitch change when deployed. Spitfires have a reputation for being prone to ground handling difficulties at times but not this Spitfire! The combination of raked forward, yet scale looking & pre-installed retracts, effective tailwheel steering and generous size scale rudder make this Spitfire amazingly well behaved on the ground. This is the best Durafly Warbird yet, it is easy to build and fly yet offers superbly realistic speed, climb rate & aerobatic performance while being practical yet charismatic, it is a true classic!
*Note: Some customers may find the CG indicated at 120mm from the L/E in the supplied instruction manual. This is a printing error that has since been corrected. The actual CG being approximately 70mm from the L/E. An amended instruction manual can also be downloaded from the "Files" tab below.
