The roadwheels and running gear do look smaller compared to the WSN model... again, we won't know for sure until we have the two models side by side. Anyways, here are my observations so far:



The front idler on T-34s can be adjusted up and down to match track tension, but the rear drive sprocket is fixed on the real tank due to the transmission.



I imagine the differences are due to the HL gearboxes.

Pretty nice, but the wheel size does look a little small However this may allow you to paint out the plastic tires and add real rubber ones resulting is a little more diameter.


I am most interested in the running gear layout.

I guess we will see soon enough.

I am just starting a T-34-76 1942 tank now.

I see what you're saying as the ride height is a bit high.

I do hope the outdrives match up with the sprockets.

The HL definatly seems to ride much higher. When I was fiddling around with the wsn tracks though, I noticed because of the design the sprocket would slip a lot unless the high tension was kept, hopefully hl will not have this problem?

glad to see this is out...have eventual plans to make a T-34/85 in a nK variant...gotta have something to go against my planned USMC Korean War Pershings.  Helps that I have a bunch of detailed photos of captured nK tanks from Korea's War Museum. 

May have to hold off, though, to see what sort of suspension improvements are developed.  Looks like a great candidate for Asiatam's low profile gearboxes.

Concerning the differences in the idle: On my wsn the idler can be rotated to adjust track tension. The offset swiveling can change the orinetation of the idler vertically as well as change the distance to the first road wheel. In other words, I can make my WSN like like either of the photos by loosening it, swiveling and retightening, so I am not sure if there is a difference. The HL idler does look smaller though. At least to me.

   A couple of things to consider, the photos were taken with a wide angle lens so there are distortions in the image things that are slightly farther away look smaller, so it may be why the road wheels look smaller. 
   Second you may consider that the tank may be empty and has no weight to compress the suspension at all, which would make the idler and the sprocket above the road wheels .
   Third maybe HL was listening about everyone complain about the suspension in some previous offerings being too soft, so they may have put in stronger springs.
   Fourth it may have slightly smaller road wheels, I think it is likely a combination of these things is making it ride high.

Sirs, that is Heng Long's compromise in order to fit their standard gearboxes inside the T-34.
Whoever has put his hands and tools on a WSN/Torro T34 knows that Heng Long gearboxes won't fit without either remoulding the whole backplate of the tank, or building custom gearboxes which use the original final drive of the WSN tank.

Anyway, I prefer this compromise rather than a completely wrong backplate.

The HL wheels are definitely not to scale. They should sit high enough to carry the track through to the front of the drive cycle, hence why the T-34 had no return rollers as I believe it was originally intended to have. I also wonder if this is due to the gearboxes they chose to use. I'd love to get my hands on one of these to go with the Trumpeter 1/16 T-34/85 I have on the table.

The wheels don't look out of scale to me.
Looking again at the pictures and after checking my own one, on the WSN T34 the sprocket and the last wheel are much closer than on the heng long.
That could also possible mean that on the HL T34 the suspension arms have a wider arc of movement possible, lacking the stop the WSN has,, and in the picture above they just stand more relaxed than intended. That could be also be due to lack of weight on the model (i.e. missing battery).

A nice test would be pressing by hand the tank to the ground, and observing the wheels disposition with suspension crushed. The final appearance might be better than we think by looking at just these few pictures.

The overall model doesn't look at all bad to me, and it will run better than the WSN for sure.

does anybody have the pics of what it looks like inside ...gearboxes...layout of the electronics...turret motors ...gun elevation/is there a recoil? i see it has the goofy HL LED headligh...lol
what other hatches open nice to have the drivers hatch open

well said PantherG. I have seen many posts on here where manufacturers have come on to announce plans or ask for help with parts, Tanks etc and get nothing but negative feedback.
I guess sometimes I wonder why new parts come out at all.

Well said.... The Pantiger was the 1st tank I owned. Looking forward to this t34 release as whatever issues there are can be fixed. Besides, nearly everyone here that buys a Heng Long tank either heavily upgrades it or guts it all together. Will be a good chassis for future builds.
