Aahh, the Heng Long Pershing must be shorter than the Tamiya Pershing and they only sent 4 extra links, enough for ONE each side... not enough for the length I need! [
] They probably didn't take into consideration that it takes 2 pieces to make up a link. I believe 8 pieces would have fixed the shortage. 
Oh well, so much for thinking. They mesh great on the sprocket, just didn't think I would have THAT issue.
Back to the plastic tracks for now and order some links for the next time. Guess I'm the bug today.
