Thanks....been a real PIA getting the Elmod system to work in synch with the custom servo recoil ,etc. decided to run a Tamiya Jagdpanther traverse gearbox with custom linkage for the traverse...so far so good(Hooben gearboxes were crap and the micro-switches never really worked that well on them)...just makes me mad that I was just finishing up when I find TK boards set-up for servo-control now .....arrrgh! But I still like the fact I have Panzer IV sound effects and all the other Elmod goodies..

RE: Hooben Elefant Build Log
Well I'm putting the road wheels together. I remember reading streetsquids build and the OD sizes of the bearing were larger then the ID of the plastic wheels. The fit from my kit works perfectly. They must have addressed the problem.
I'll be going all over the place with the build. Definitely varying from the instructions. I'm building subsections to prepare for paint. I do have another question. I put the flash in the barrel and wondering if anyone had a good place to put the IR bulb? Right now I plan on using the barrel clip method as on my Sherman.

agreed...I have both the IR emitter and flash LED installed in the barrel. looks much better and more accurate then the "clip" method..

Install the IR in the barrel ahead of the flash!

Looking good and I like your choice of camo scheme to use... kinda what I want too.
Did you use the pre-made zim and how was it and what size are the bearings that are needed?

I used the pre-made zim from ETO. I used 5 minute epoxy to apply. I had to enlarge the cutouts a little. I couldn't find bearings to fit due to their length, so I used the bushings that came with the kit. I thought of two separate bearings but from their design the one piece bushing seems to add to the structure of the road wheel.

I had to change the base plate for the gun. When mounted, it bound up moving the gun to the left due to the plate flexing. I used the metal version from ETO with a servo pocket that came with my Futaba radios.

Just a note to anyone interested.... I'm forced to sell my fully tricked out "Battle-Ready" Hooben Elefant to help recover from a nasty medical bill that wasn't covered by insurance...Don't worry I'll still keep tanking(in fact have a project in the works as we speak). Just need to put some cash back in my bank acct. PM me if interested.

Road wheel suspension assemblies are complete. The only problem with the units was the inner threads on the axles were stripped out. I drilled them deeper and tapped them to use a longer screw. I test fit them to the hull but I need to sand a little here and there to get them to fit correctly.

RE: Hooben Elefant Build Log
Got the road wheel and suspension assemblies installed. The usual filing of parts to get the proper fit was all that was needed. Starting to look like something.
