I like the stowage placement (are those Nicks or did you make them) and your work on lowering the turret height really looks better that way.

I need to add some of that to my A1E8 someday.

Cheers Jeff. The stowage is stuff that I've cast myself
The turret mod is a MUST for the Mato sherman, even if you do nothing else

That is one fine looking Sherman!

Another amazing job... that's a pretty impressive shelf of tanks you must have!

Cheers Shep, I'm afraid most of my builds live in the loft, I only have a select few on display[&o]
Although they did all get a weekend out a few weeks back at a model show we attended

...and here's the next one in the stable. I had a complete Tamiya upper hull from the easy 8 build so thought I'd put it to good use

What depth in mils do you remove from the base of the turret? - and out of curiosity, how did you cut it?

I've got the beginnings of an ersatz M1/early M50 on the blocks... I'm almost embarrassed to be living in the same country as Nigel, my work's so 'average'.

Its about 5mm that you need to remove. You're basically taking away the ring of plastic Mato have put there for clearance reasons. Once you take the turret apart it becomes quite obvious what needs removing
I use a razor saw, but you could use a hacksaw, dremel etc

Excellent! Thanks for that. I don't have the parts yet - forgebear's out of them - So it's just to remove the insert to the moulding that Mato put in to jack up the turret?

I'll size the job up myself, but will use a razor saw if at all possible, for precision, and the cut that it leaves is almost finished, unlike say a dremel's.

I'm still in two (or more!) minds about either M1 or early M50, and those choices both subdivide into welded or plated cast hull... I'll see what the Mato top deck looks like when it arrives...

Thanks again.

LOL I had the last Mato upper that Dave had, sorry
The Mato top is good, the lightguards/lifting eyes are a bit overscale and could do with changing, the barrel/mantlet are a bit iffy and the turret height are the only real issues
