RE: Another Sherman build
Cheers Dan. As usual, I did as little research as I could , I just went for the camo as I seem to be getting more and more OD tanks so I wanted her to be a little different

Awesome... you're now ahead of me on Shermans (dammit) but I'm getting close! I really like them side-by-side and the 'Ladies' too!
I am repairing the nasty looking VVSS units on the HL PLUS, bearings will go into those horrible wheels with the backside filled in. I may even line them with a rubber tire too!
Any other things I should be concerned with on the Heng Long Sherman? Still need a beefy gearbox for it since it will have some metal to haul around.

RE: Another Sherman build
Personally I think the HL Sherman's a good little model, If you sort the running gear out you're onto a winner. Black steel stug boxes drop straight in, or are you thinking something else????

If you say they fit that's good enough for me! As little as I do drive them they'll last forever. Thanks for the tip.
Now where to find 'em?

To be honest, if you don't use them much, you may as well stick with the plastic boxes Jeff. I've got a couple of tanks with them in, just glue up the slipper clutch and you're good to go. They'll be nice and quiet and if you do strip a gear, it's a cheap fix

I did my first Sherman with a similar cameo too.
I know it's not the most historically accurate, especially with the three piece tranny and some day I'll get around to fix it, but for now I like it!

RE: Another Sherman build
IT would be good to have 8 Sherman's against 3 KT to simulate a more reasonable battle.
With all the new blood and Shermans in this hobby, we may be able to move away from the traditional 4 on 4 battles where heavies seem to dominate. IF there is a critical mass of Shermans( everyone needs to have at least one) we can attempt to duplicate the overwhelming strength in numbers the Allies had. Turn down the emitters on the Shermans so they can only score hits from 10 meters away and unleash 8 on 3 German heavies.
Back to the Topic. You have again built a great looking Sherman, and I share your passion for the dumpy little guy.

You got me to wondering ...... If all of us got together, it would be interesting to know just how many Shermans (or conversions) are out there among the members of this forum .........
I have a total of 16. 4 Shermans, 9 conversions using the Sherman lower hull, and 3 WIP projects.
Add 2 more if we count 1/18.

Cheers Paul
The top is held on by magnets although I don't think it would be impossible to fit the clips that Tamiya use
I got most of the weathering done today, so here she is in all her glory
