1/16 Tamiya FO Firefly with HVVS
its for pleasure we make our models, some guy's only buy the thinking to make money on them ... thats wrong am now converting an old sherman with plastic tracks into a firefly with FO equipment ... its no holy grail for me just a cheap conversin bought it at 180 euro a time ago on ebay enjoy the pics of it ... i also added T84 pershing tracks onto, give a more realife look, therefor no firefly ever had HVVS suspension, there was told the us army had study around that but never had materialized
i have VVSS boogies metal ones to at home but they are not so good as the tamiya HVVS boogies wich addept the terrain like the real ones ... maybe sooner or later i will buy a heng long ong and add those boogies to the body w"ll see
that's why i decided to keep it originaly HVVS once finished no one will mention it while riding ...
just had placed the inner trackwheels getting a bit afterwards for passing the pershing tooths on my sherman , now its ok

here are the impact T84 pershing tracks with rubber pads then the original tamiya FO tracks , you'll see the pins are different thats why i placed the little trackwheel holders 3x more inside 2.5mm and last the impact sherman tracks metal with flat tooths

its not finished yet i place also the bubbles on the hatches out of scratch and the early command hatches on to the top
here a few foto's with the pershing T84 tracks ... looks good ... had to remove five single track links to made it fit the sherman suspension

I may have to use the Tamiya plastic guide horns to replace the IMPACT Pershing guide horn on my T84 tracks as Mitosal wouldn't sell me any metal parts. It's funny... IMPACT (Erwin) directed me to ask them but they said they couldn't. Or wouldn't.
Then when I divulged that on the IMPACT forum they deleted it. Or just didn't approve it. LOL

i've read that to but can't find it where , in a few weeks one is riding in ninove

I read somewhere that there was some Fireflies built on the HVSS chassis, but it was late in the war and never made it to service.

Thanks Jeff, Zaloga is one of those sources I take on face value, I have complete trust in his research. Not just an excellent modeler, but a pretty good author too. I met him a bunch of times at AMPS events, a true gentleman.
I was planning of this for my Tam M4 until I decided to drop the T-34 on it. I'm glad I didn't research too deep, otherwise I stuck with it.

If there was an accurate mantlet available I would have 2 Fireflies! One as mentioned above and then some variation of a WWII vehicle. I only have 1 barrel though and it is the Tamiya version too. []

I don't think they're French, I may be wrong, but I think they're Churchill ones

He’s talking about the tracks only on the front plate left side of the tank in two rows or as you look at the tank on the right side these are French the others are Churchill, British crews using Ronson’s new only too well just how poor the armour of the Sherman was and would add anything they could the help stop a round, problem is even with the tracks on the front a Panther or Tiger round would still penetrate the front from more than 1500 yards
Nice Ronson build Karel, if you need reference there is or was a Firefly in Brussels
