1/16 bridge
My friend Mike(SGTMAJMVJ) and I made a 1/16 bridge the other day for our indoor battlefield but some of the tanks are having a hard time going up it due to spinning. What kind of spray or material do you all recommend to put on the bridge to help grip? We obviously don't want to put anything on there that could possibly damaged the tracks. the material we used for the road itself is roofing shingles and its just too slipery.

RE: 1/16 bridge
cool project and please don't think I'm being critical, but I think the grade may have more to do with the traction loss than the material. Any chance you can draw out the slopes? Now on to something constructive- roofing shingles, although very rough only provide traction if the item against it is softer, Shoes, hands (for you roofers out there) kind of like skate-board tape so.....we need something softer than plastic or metal tracks.....I'd grab a can of spray on bed-liner or any rubber sealant. You may even be able to get a good color match and try that. Regardless of how you tackle it, please post the results.H

Like he said, work on the grade and maybe some of that non-slip surface tape too.

Thanks guys for the tips. Kubel-head unfortunately there is nothing we can really do about the slope of the bridge. I too am thinking some kind of rubber sealant should do the trick. I'm going to make a trip to Walmart tomorrow and see what I can come up with. I will keep you all posted. Thanks!

Taking pictures with your handy never gives a decent picture, probably the best thing you could use is ribbed latex floor matting or carpet this you can buy from Bauhaus or Brico

Hey guys just used some flexible rubber coating spray so lets see how this stuff works. Pah co chu puk for the bridge frame we used part of an old bed frame, then roof shingles for the road. We then used great stuff spray to form a small ridge on the sides of the bridge to help keep tanks from falling to there deaths lol.

More pictures of it finished(hopefully). If that rubber coating spray doesn't work then I don't know. I'll give it a test either tonight or tomorrow with the tanks.

I see the kit is not listed yet, only the beams. I got one of the first he made ready , and the price may not be 100% you are looking at 30+ euro for kit and 60+ euro ready made, + shipping . I will start a own little build tread on it when I get some work don on it .

This may be a dumb idea as well as a pain in the butt waste of time, but how about really coarse sand paper? And then spray it with the rubber coating? Or spray the rubber first and then sprinkle sand on it. I appreciate your problem and I am just throwing out ideas here. I may experiment with these suggestions myself today to see if any of these ideas work out in real life.

Another idea. When I had a boat there was an anti-skid material that you could buy at boat shops that had a sticky back. All you had to do was cut out the shape you needed, peel the paper off of the back and press it down on the surface that was slippery.

Hey Rex Ross I actually did sand the bridge down really good and then sprayed it with the rubber spray. It is working better cause now all my tanks can make it across except my Tamiya Tiger. My 3 Heng Long and even my heavy(16lbs) Taigen Tiger made it up it no problem but the Tamiya Tiger just spins no matter what speed you hit it at. I might try spraying another coat on it with some sand mixed in. I'm going to think it over and try to figure out something. Till then here is a short video of some tanks crossing it.
